i posted this way back and forgot about it and such, anyways its a pretty leet idea.
8 people make new hc charas blah blah
the goal is not to reach level 9 and then duel and you are allowed to go to town.
The first person to reach level 25 or the last one left living is teh winnar.

the twist: at the start of the game each person is given 2 low level uniques or sets, such as maybe a sigon belt, lenymo sash, 3 flawless rubied breast plate, gorefoots, cathans ring, manald heal, blood crescent simitar, khalims flail, etc etc.
the roolz are:
1. At the start of the game everyone allows loot on everyone else.
2. You can Peekay any time you want in the game. (this makes it fun)

the peekaying encourages people to hunt down others so they can loot their low level items, thus making themselves more powerful to level faster/kill even more people.

im thinking you should go partied until level 9 then either split up or make 2 person teams or something, not sure of this since there isnt all that many places to level up. Also andy is gonna have to be done partied, maybe at the very start of the game.

input anybodyz? i wanna host one of these this weekend, ill go emeff nm cows to find the itams once i know if people wanna do this.

I never done the ironman comp or anything like it, but it does sound fun and hey if I can waist an hour mf'ing 30k useless items I sure can spare the time to be one of the first to die in a comp. I'M IN!!!

Rather then just killing Andy at first. You could give everyone a quick norm rush when they are all level 1, and then they would have free rain over where they wanted to level/hunt, or what merc they wanted to use, etc.

Might help to spread things out a little bit, rather then having everyone fighting over the Ancients Tunnel, etc.

This actually sounds like it could be quite fun!

Also, would "trading" your items be allowed? say you ended up with Sigons gloves, but someone else ended up with Sigons belt?

i guess trading would be ok as long as it wasnt abused, like i guess if a sorc who only has 25 str pks a 70str sig armor or something, i donno

I love the idea. Its almost like "Surviver" Dialbo 2 style. I definitely would suggest just norm rushing everyone atleast to Diablo. If I can dig up my D2 discs I might join in

this is not as fun as ironman, since ironman requires you to do some 'creative' thinking due to the fact that you are lvl 9 and do not have a lot of skill points. Unlike, lvl 25 where you can max a skill and doo 1337 damag3; basically whoever chooses the one with most power can keel ez. Oh and if you are doing this thingy, then untwinkled ftw! dont giev itamz! Oh yus, I like your idea of allowing to peekay at any time

Each to his own... I'd say it might be more fun. I'm not sure, since I've never done it, but I'd say give it a shot before condemning it as "not as fun"

I think it might need to be tried out a couple different times, with modified rules each time, and see what works//what people enjoy most. The variables might be along the lines of where people are rushed to, what level they start at, skills allowed, items allowed, etc. Good idea Tomato, can prolly count on me being in.

25 sounds high to me. Maybe cut it at the point just before a couple classes get overpowered skills (cutting at 17 would eliminate CS Zons and Hammerdins). I dunno, just throwing out ideas.

well, u guys mustve skimmed through the "free for all" starting at lvl 9. the smartest people would kill the "overpowered at 18" people before they get to that point.

seems like a ton of fun, as there are more than enough strategies to keep it interesting.

I disagree. Whats not creative about having to create a slightly higher LLD char?

Picture this. Everyone is spread out around act 1, leveling in their own way. You've sort of created an "aliance" with another character, because your two characters go well together. You have these 2 Low level Items that are ok. And you know that other person has 2 other Low Level Items that could possibly really help you.

And then a pack of monsters comes, and your "team mate" is busy engaging them. You naturally would help him kill the monsters, right? Or do you try and PK him right then and there? Knowing that you could get some good gear, but that he wont be around to help with that next pack of monsters. Or he could possibly survive and kill you. Or maybe he is planning the exact same thing next time you run into a pack of monsters first?!

Whats not interesting and stratigic about that? Of course, that would require that everyone activate hostile at level 9, so you wouldn't know when it was coming. But would that bugger up exp sharing?

I do however, agree with this statement.

I think it might need to be tried out a couple different times, with modified rules each time, and see what works//what people enjoy most.

im also thinkin it might work to give everybody a certain number of "money" at the start of the game and they can choose what to "buy" through a large amount of low items, each with costs relative to their usefullness, melee items will be cheaper to offset fireball sorcs, skele necs and such.
was also considering making tps restricted to having to pay 5 "money" each time you use one, to escape a hostile or w/e the reason, or maybe just not allow tps while theres a hostile nearby you. full rejuv pots might also be sold too, i donno. im willing to host one and be like the moderator over the weekend so lemme know what time you guys can do this and what you think the exact rules would be.

The "Money" idea sounds kinda interesting. As well as being able to buy Full Juv's

Making the price list for everything sounds time consuming though.

Anyway. I can play on Sunday from about Lunch time to Midnight. If you play in there at all, count me in.

You wouldn't be able to have permanent hostile on and have any sort of Exp sharing, also, Sunday is this fairly high profile football game over here in the States...

List of some items that could be "bought"

Leaf Fireball staff
Twitch
Sig's Boots
Sig's Belt
Hsaru's Belt/Boots
Crushflange
3 Flawless/Perfect Ruby/Amethyst Mask/Armor
BSoD (seems a watse to provide them, as if you make it to act2 you could shop them.)

Just some of the basics.

I'd probably be interested if it was a timeframe i could do, but I mostly play at work, so hard for me to lock down a block of time, I'd spend like 1/4 of it afk in town...

The idea sounds tempting but as stated, it has its problems. I would imagine CS zons dominant if they're allowed to build up properly, I guess I would go with a kicker and try to wipe everyone out as early as possible... :)

Molten Boulder Druid for me :) But I can't play this sunday,work... during the bloody superbowl. Those bastards better put up a tv at work or my knife that I cut sandwiches with might accidently "slip" into my managers back.

If there's still room I'd love to join. I have a pretty flexible schedule after 5:00 currently so if possible I'm in!
