Some of the normal wands have only one socket, I think. I don't think it's possible to shop for a two-socket wand, but it's best to check with the normal vendors in Acts 1 and 2 (Akara and Drognan). The bonemancers around here should be able to give better advice.
get the act2 gate to spawn near drognan, and spend there about 2 hours going out and back in the town hoping for that sexy +3bonespear :D, yew/burnt wands get 1 socket...damm them >,< but the rest gets 2 sockets

Normal-Drogman is the only source for white/grey +3 bonespear wands (shopping, of course. Monsters can drop them too). The only wands in his inventory that can get 2 sockets are bone wands.
Drogman sorts his wands by type, so bonewands always end up at the end, and there are only a few of them. So you only have to look at those few.

This is another realated question if anyone can help: can wands get +3 CE? I guess they can, but wheres the best place to get one? I.e. is it only possible for one vendor in one difficulty to spawn the right kind of wand or is it any vendor from act2 normal onwards? any help appreciated!
Yes, the wands Drognan sells in normal can have +3 bonusses to up to three necromancer skills. Those skills can't have a level requirement higher than 18 though. So it is possible get a +3 BS (level 18), +3 CE (level 6), +3 Golum Mastery (level 12) Bone Wand with 2 sockets or something like that if you're lucky:P
I currently have a +3 BS, +3 Revive wand with the White runeword. Since Revive has a level requirement of 30, you can't buy a wand like this, you'll have to find it. I have found act 3 NM to be a good place to find wands. I found around 10 wands while going trough it with my Hammerdin.
The only place where you can buy non-magic wands with 2 sockets is Drognan in act 2 Normal. In every following act and in higher difficulties, the vendors will only sell magic wands, in which you can't make runewords. In act 1 Normal, you can only buy "wands" and yew wands, which can only have 1 socket.
I hope this answers your question:smiley:

After a couple hours of shopping Drogan you may think anything is better than more shopping.
I have also had some luck shopping Malah in A5 with a LOW level char.

I have spent a couple of hours now shopping for a +3 CE, +1,2 or 3 bone armor or bone spear wand, the closest I've got is +3 CE/+2 terror with 2os, so you'll be v v v lucky to get exactly what you want!
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I think you can reply to my question (since noone replied b4 on my thread).
I am trying to get a white/grey necro head to make splendor on it, desired skill bonuses are +3 spirit/spear or +3 poison nova. Where can I go to shop that one?
thnx in advance

Not everyone! Check out this (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=413346) thread, see some of the 1000+ posters who've posted there! Everyone makes that mistake, so not everyone always remembers!

You mean that whether the vendors sell magic or non-magic wands depends on your clvl, and not on the act/difficulty?
I'm almost positive that isn't the case, since I shopped alot of non-magic wands with level 80+ chars in act 2 Normal..

Ever join a baal game as a wimp low player and shop one of the NPC while lots of high levels are around, then go back and shop with just low level you in the game, all the high level stuff is GONE.
Being higher level though doesn't raise the level of the max item they sell normally.

The shop inventory presented to you is based on your clvl, and the "first" character opening the shop creates the inventory.
However, shops in normal difficulty have a cap, which is the reason why you can always shop normal drogman for a white +3 bonespear wand: you clvl may be far to high to allow such "crappy" wands, but drogmans cap prevents him from offering "better" stuff :-)
Ok thanks for the info.
But would it be possible then to buy a non-magic wand with bonusses to level 30 skills in act 5 normal with a low level char?

I don't think that's possible.
Mind you that I don't know the exact details of how shops are implemented in D2, but the basic idea is that beyond a certain level, items will always (or at least 100% minus epsilon, which still is almost always --- not sure about this) be magical. Back when the shops were designed, white items had no value at all from a player perspective, so not selling any did make sense.
Now, lvl 30 skills require a certain minimum ilvl (not sure whether it's ilvl 30, but there is a minimum required level), so you char needs to be something like "that minimum level"-5 or so to be able to spawn those items in a shop. However, that level is already above the level where shops will be able to spawn white items.
Just stick to one simple rule: A2 is the last shop with a good chance to spawn white items; not sure whether you'll still find white items in A3. The cap on normal A2 shops prevents them from spawning items with skills beyond level 18.
It doesn't really matter whether item levels are restricted by clvl or a cap placed on the shop; the result is the same.
