Can anyone tell me what the Cube bug is please for armourThere are numerous threads on this topic in the Bugs and Suggestions forum. If you use the cube to socket an ethereal armor, then the ethereal bonus will be reapplied to the item. Instead of 1.5 * base def, it'll have 1.5 * 1.5 * base defense = 2.25 * base defense. This is a bug. Many members of this forum consider it abusive to use this bug. This bug was created when they fixed the ethereal armor upgrade bug.

When you use the socketing recipe, a random number 1-6 is rolled, then that is the number of sockets you get. If the number is higher than what that base item can support (taking item level into account; and armors can never have >4 sockets, for instance).

You must be completely wrong that "most people" get one socket. The probabilities are:

2 sockets max (Splint Mail, Bone Shield, Circlet etc.)
1/6 chance of 1 socket
5/6 chance of 2 sockets

3 sockets max (Example: Mage Plate, "normalized" Crude elite body armors, Tower Shield, Mask etc.)
1/6 chance of 1 socket
1/6 chance of 2 sockets
2/3 chance of 3 sockets

4 sockets max (Example: Gothic Plate, all Elite armors of item level>40)
1/6 chance of 1 socket
1/6 chance of 2 sockets
1/6 chance of 3 sockets
1/2 chance of 4 sockets

as there are no runewords that make armour indestructable you could make a very strong armour but you could never repair it.

But as ethereal armour is not damaged as long as your merc is wearing them it would still be very useful amour. :wink3:

How about zoding it? And you still got a few sockets. Or is it a bad idea? (I`m sort of new to d2)

If you ever get a Zod... that armor wouldn't be worth zoding it compared to the crazy runewords involving zods... screenshot the zod drop btw ;o)

You could put a zod into one of the sockets, but then you couldn't use it for runewords. Runewords require specific runes and a specific number of sockets.

Besides body armor, the same forumula is used to make excellent Exile shields for paladins. Since Exile has the self repair mod...

Not that I`ve ever found a zod. Or a HR. Or a SoJ. I`ve been playing SP for a while and then got tired of d2, so now that i started to play on Bnet, there is bunch of new stuff to me, trading, muling, runs and so on.

I can understand your new fun. Do you play SC or HC ?

'Cause to me, no other game offer the thrill to lose your character for good in HC. Actually, i've never played SC except for the time when you needed to kill Baal once in normal to get access to HC.
