Question about merc def. in Nm being 0 at lvl 24

Good day,

I have been wonderring why when i try to hire a might merc in Nightmare it says base def 0? Normal merc have usual base def. Do you need to reach a certain lvl before hireing Nm merc for their def to reflect what is shown in the tables here? Or is this a glitch? I would've like to show a picture but i dont know how.

Mercs add stats as they level up, so if you hire one at a level that's too low he'll end up with negative stats, which apparently the game doesn't allow so it sets it to 0 instead.

At some point the merc will get past the negative stats and advance as usual. Instead of babysitting a useless merc, take of his gear, leave him dead and buy a new one later.

What level is the character doing the hiring?

Well as i said, we are talking about a might merc (act 2 offensive nm) and the character who does the hireing is a lvl 22 necro.

I hope this provides the information you needed.

Hmm, according to my records an Act 2 NM merc would have 6 defense even at level 1.

Btw, to take a screenshot press the "Print Screen" button in game, and it'll save a picture to your D2 installation directory.
