Well .. I mean Rate .. but Pimp just sounds better .. ;)
Like the topic says, he will be a Bone Necro.
I'm want to use him as a dueler. So I want to use max Vita.
(taken mostly from mhl12's first d2 forum guide: pvp classic bone necro!!!)
Also I want to use a Shard. Easy to hit the 48% breakpoint, which imo is enough.
So, that said I need a max of 61dex(shard) and 44str(Hawkmail)
Thats alot of stat points for an already low on life character.
Starting at 15Str and 25Dex I need to add 29str and 36dex extra statpoints from items.
I will be using the following items:
Helmet: 10fhr / 40life / 20cr / 3Light ;)
Armor: 5dex / 58life / 35mana (Serpentskin)
Shield: Gem shield vs Lightning/Fire/Cold 30/20 vs Melee
Weapon: Shard 50mana / 50fcr / 15res all
Belt: 17fhr / 13str / 37life
Gloves: 6str / 14dex / 10cr / 8fr
Boots: As long as they have 30frw and 5dex if I switch to Hawkmail
Ring 1: 9str / 26life / 39mana / 9fr
Ring 2: 12dex / 15cr / 19lr
Amulet Option One: +1 / 10str / 16dex / 23fr
Amulet Option Two: 9str / 5dex / 57life / 38mana / 17priz
Option 1:
+1 = bonus here
124life
124mana
+47 dex
+39str
Option 2:
+17 res all = bonus here
181life
162mana
+36dex
+38str
I'm inclined to choose Option 2, since I will have no other +1 skill items, the only +1 won't really make a big difference.
Skills are pretty easy, dont know about the Curse Tree tho.
Should I invest in Lower Resist, or stop at Decrepify and put the rest into Teeth for more damage.

Thats only 81 Skillpoints, deduct the 12 you get from Quests and that would mean lvl 69. I intend to go to level 80. So where do I put the leftover skillpoints ?

You'd be better off using..
+2 20FCR wand w/ bone skills or resistances (Umes can work as a starter).
20 FCR Eyeless Shield
2x 10FCR rings (Resists/Life are needed)
Magefist
24FHR 40+ Life Armor or Heavy Resists
24FHR 30+ Life Belt or Heavy Resists
Bonehelm (The one you have)
30FRW Boots with Heavy Resists
+1 Prizmatic Necro Ammy (Use option 2)

Ofcourse I can use that .. but thats what EVERYBODY uses.
I like to be different. And, besides, I dont have some of those items you described.
Also, WHY would I be better off wearing the items you described.
With the Items I summed up I'd end up with almost 300life more.

Hmmm, how do you level a Necro until 18 without adding to Teeth? Go to multi player games and just amp the creatures?
Erm ... I use the hellforge hammer ;)
So amp and bash .. yes .. takes a bit longer than usual to level a character.
But I've been using it for sorcs too. Works great.
Or getting a nice +3skelletons / +3 Skelleton Mastery works fine too.

Don't use hellforge on a necromancer.
Use Complete Khalims Flail (No Requirements, insane attack speeds and lightning damage).

It doesnt matter wether u use khalims or hforge to lvl.. they are both effective.
On topic, i like to use shard on pvp necros. I agree that a good wand and WOE is potentially better, but with using shard you can hit 80 fcr with dual sojs(dreaming here) and a far better shield than woe (more resists)

Depending on what class you expect to be dueling most often, you may want to consider maxing teeth. At the very least, dump you extra skill pts into teeth. Now I have never made a pvp necro, but teeth can be effective against sorcs that wont stand still for more than a tenth of a second. Teeth doesnt do a whole lot of damage, and if you were planning on using it lots of plus skills would help a lot, but you can fill up the whole screen with a high lvl teeth.

Don't use hellforge on a necromancer.
Use Complete Khalims Flail (No Requirements, insane attack speeds and lightning damage).

The build is nice, but I have a few things to say about it:
To begin with, you're forgetting the pre-req points, namely Teeth and Corpse Explosion. Also, if you want to abuse the WW Barb glitch, stick one point into Clay Golem....which brings me to another thing. You're going to need Decrepify from hard points if you want to use that glitch.
For your gear, Shard is, imo, the second worst thing you can do to a Necro(the first, putting Silks on a Necro). Not only do you have Dex Reqs to keep in mind, but you also leave out one of the most important Curses for a dueling Bone Necro, which, as mentioned before, is Decrepify.
If you want to stick with 50 FCR, then switch to a +2 Necro 20 FCR +to Decrepify Wand with life and resists if possible. LukeJames mentioned using Ume's Lament, and that really isn't a bad starting wand. Now here's where it gets tricky: if you want to avoid using Magefist, you're going to have to find 2 FCR rings with Str, Life, and Resists, and a +Necro FCR ammy with similar mods. For me, the more fun route would be to equip Magefist with two SoJs and an FCR Necro ammy.
Depsite all that, I still strongly suggest that you stick to using a +2 20 FCR Wand, 2 FCR Rings, +2 10 FCR Ammy, and Magefist. One other thing I should mention is that you should stack up on Fire and Cold Res as they will be the two most common elements you will have to face PvM as well as PvP. Grab a 3-Socket PTopaz Large Shield for FOHers if needed.

I would say yes, your necro will work in PvP. With enough skill and experience with the necro, you can get by with surprisingly sub-par gear against most people. That's not to suggest your setup is sub-par, mearly saying that necros are not HEAVILY item dependent. Hit your fcr breaks, get some resists, and your good to go. Something to remember for pvp, Bone Wall ROCKS. Spread them around and they will absorb frozen orb shards, guided arrows, bone spirits, fire balls (1 hit :tongue: ), untargeted FoH, and Whirlwinds. They are also real nice for breaking up charging paladins.
For PvM, bone necs are interesting. I only use bone spear because of its superior damage per mana ratio compared to spirit. Corpse Explosion+Amp and Bone Wall are great. I usually pull up a bone wall or two, spear a few monsters and CE the rest. The going is slow because of low damage, but with patience and some creative corpse exploding, they can chug through any place in the game.

Hrm, I found (well I shopped for about 1/2h) a 20FCR/+2 skills/+2Decryp. wand.
No life/res yet. But going in and out of Lut Gholein for 30mins is enough :P
Now I could just replace the +dex ring with a +10fcr/mana and use Magefist.
I'm gonna post my gear here again, see what I come up with. I'm also using this post as a reference for myself ;)

Well, not using the shard DOES make my items a whole lot less dependent on Dex ;)
I dont think I'll use the WoE because the shield will be the main item which adds the most res. It's not classy a Gem shield. But I'll have to make due till I find a nice 30/20 prismatic. Found 15/10 20 prism ... NOT good enough ;)
Btw, he's lvl 22 now. After getting Bonespear life sure gets alot easier.
Using a 3 Sapphire helmet does help out in the Mana department :)
I also forgot how much fun CE was ... Cowing at lvl 22 ... I was outkilling the lvl 28 baba :P
