I am a summoner, thinking about obedience for my Mercs weapon, but how does the enchant work, is there a radius, or do all my skells get it, or just the merc? Mostly the AR boost sounds GREAT. How long does it last?

Enchant works on a specific target. I'm guessing the runeword you are referring to has either charges (in which case the merc won't use it at all), or a chance to cast on striking/hitting/whatever, in which case it will affect the merc.

Your skellies won't be affected.

Actually Enchants works from the weapon therefore whoever wields or uses the polearm then either yourself or merc will have a extremely good chance of adding fire damage to your melee with that weapon. It got 30% chance of keeping the wielder fire enchanted therefore for a skeleancer the merc probably your best bet (as long as he gets the last hit on the kill. Unfortauntely this means your minions other than merc wouldn't benefit from it.

It looks like a great runeword and I'm considering making one for my fishy when I get a chance (just restarted!), but I'm just a bit wary of the cold damage on it. Will it shatter too many of the monsters to build up an army fast or is that really not something to be concerned with? I'm thinking that crushing blow with the big ED would help crush bosses!

I used one on my skellymancer for awhile. It's a great merc weapon for the enchant (more dmg for him), crushing blow & added resists for him. I actually preferred using it on a merc over Infinity. The small cold damage added in won't be a problem as far as shaterring bodies.

Hel + Ko + Thul + Eth + Fal isn't too expensive either, would have been really sweet if it enchanted the whole party. With the highest ED it isn't going to be happy in a IM area, but it is a clear boss killer.

Now to figure out a weapon to swap with it when I face IM.

I think Obedience would make a great Iron Golem.

A bit wasteful, especially if it is a sup 15ed eth thresher that you are looking at.
