Currently i have made my second character on EHCL, and im having some problems with resists, and wondered if anyone had some ideas.

its the standard LS / DS trapper build and my eq is as follows:

Helm: Pcrown
Armor: Lionheart Mageplate "HelLumFal"
Ammy: +3 trap
Ring1: Bahaumuts ring (+107 mana)
Ring2: empty
Belt: Crafted Caster sharkskin belt
Boots:Waterwalks
Gloves: Trangs
Weapon: Bartuck
Shield:Sigons

she has 11xx life and 3xx mana, and her resists in nm are 30 cold and the rest are negative if i remember correctly.

any ideas? i thought of putting smoke runeword on herm, but the mods from the lionheart allow me to use the bartucks, and it has +50 life also... so..

Ditch the Sigon's shiled for "The Ward" unique gothic shield. It has onboard and res and you can socket with a PDiamond for 19 more.

Sigon's is crap. Throw three p-diamonds in a 3os Tower Shield instead, or do quest 2 in act 5 and make an 'Ancient's Pledge' shield.

You wouldn't need all that mana if you had an 'Insight' polearm on your Merc. Consider doing some cow runs to find a decent pole to stick the runes into. If you don't have the runes yet do a few nightmare countess runs.

You obviously know how to craft, so check out Arreat Summit on how to craft rings with specific resists or better yet start gambling for rare/magical rings with resist all.

All else fails, put a few more point into Fade.

You might consider a rhyme shield or a pledge. You might try Irathra's gloves and helm (whole set does 65 al for 4 slots but you lose a alot of skills) ..Trangs does nothing for you except the cold res...with Irathra's youll get more res and IAS (which I gather you want but never played a trapper so what do I know). You could put on IK belt and boots if you have the strength or get some rare boots with resists. I would try and by some plus three trap claws with resists instead of the bartucs. Get a rare ring with resists.

i've been shopping for the +3 claws, but my sorc needs the majority of my gold since my merc dies like 24/7.

rythme is a nice idea, i'd actually perfer that over a ward or pledge, but what does a sheal rune go for?

You are an Assasin. I cannot believe nobody mentioned this.

Just get two +3 Fade or +3 Shadow Discipline claws a +3 Shadow circlet and +3 Shadow amulet and pre-buff Fade. You should have 1 point in it anyway and with +skills, have good resists.

Excellent advice.

Also, why Bartucs? Go with a Spirit Sword instead. Spirit/The Ward is a fantastic combo, and available at what, lvl 26? My last trappassin wore a spirit sword/ward combo at lvl 89...

Use Fade rather than BOS, especially once you hit hell.

I like claws better than spirit swords, I usually try to have 1 bartuc and 1 jade talon, or a +2 asn skill claw and ward shield +/- pdiamond.

You should have enough str and dex for perhaps a bartucs, rest in vita. None in energy. You definitely need a low req insight pole for the merc. The insight is high priority, next in line to resists!

Other cheap options: prismatic amulet, keeping trap ammy for when ur resists are better; prismatic circlet/hat e.g. nat's helm, duskdeep, etc.

+to skills don't matter that much in nm when you're suffering resist-wise.

Ring 2 - cube a resist ring such as fire resist ring: exploding pot, ring, Pruby.

Rockstopper beats pcrown hands down.
If you can you could go Smoke for an extra 15% all, but I'm guessing you're relying on the stat boost.
The 2x +3 fade claws is good advice, though I prefer to keep an LR wand on switch (and no, you can't just keep them in the stash, that takes effort ^^).

And yeah, that shield needs to go. Whether or not you go C/C (I like C/C) or _/S doesn't matter too much, but the main reason any sin will go for a shield is that it's the highest potential res spot on your character. Using it for a skill point is silly, doubly so since you're a sin and could be using a +2 claw.

i guess ill do some norm/nm rushes for forge and gather some pgems.
You're a sin. Do cows for gems.

Helm: Pcrown

Ammy: +3 trap
Ring1: Bahaumuts ring (+107 mana)
Ring2: empty
Belt: Crafted Caster sharkskin belt
Boots:Waterwalks
Gloves: Trangs
Weapon: Bartuck
Shield:Sigons

Trangs Glooves are doing nothing for you get Frosties and your mana issues change alot.

Sheild has got to go.....

Tucs arent worth it, +3 or +2 plain ones are fine and lower req

Smoke beats Lionheart hands down for a Trapper!

Waterwalks are nice but you could use other boots like Nats for more rez

The Caster belt? Depends whats on it, those can be worthless to a Sin, so even a Nightsmoke might beat it easy and I am sure a gambled Rare could smoke it. Hell a 20+ Sings rez and Life mod belt might beat it. I used a 30 Fire Big life belt for a very long time on one of my sins and it was shopped.

Nice Ammy, but if its not giving you anythign but the +3 you might be better off using say a Priz one for now. YOu dont need all those +skills to kill, they only let you kill faster but you can kill without them. I never found a good +3 on (2) seperate lvl 96 Sins, both used a +2 wiht resists or other usefull mods. One extra +1 is worthless if you get more done with a lessor +2 or even +1 or maybe even a big 30+ rez all one wiht life or mana or even nothing.

Did you do your quests that give rings in Act 3? Do them, I cannot count the amount of godly resist rings I have gotten from those. You also have the Act 1 reward also so if you skipped one or both of those do them.

Gambling...One thing MANY just plain forget about, you can get SICK belts/boots/glooves for resisits doing this. It is most productive from like 24ish to 45ish, hell in Classic play where Rares rule I make a character and leave him in this level range JUST for gambling.

Runes: Ral Ort Thul 30rez can be stuf many places
Gems: P Saph is mana in Armor or Helm, one of my goals early untwinked is to make a (3) Sock (3) Saph Helm for my casters. Put that with Frosties and you have no mana issues.

Sheilds...you cna co with the straight (3) Diamond, or if needed you can build it differently. Many people like the (1) each, Diamond/Ruby/Topaz setup. Now if you have say good fire and cold you could go Diamond/Diamond/Ruby or whatever combo you need....(you know something tells me Runes may do better than gems so you check that out I forget).

(3) Saph Helm
(3) Diamond Sheild
Smoke Armor

Just those and Fade will easily do the trick and those (3) are all goals from any Trap build I make. The gem items are done in Norm and the SMoke may take a while, I will hold off for a good armor and use things like Durys or Goldskins or even use a (4) Sock armor with Orts/Rals/Thuls/Ruby combos to ge the resists. Irathra's items are also a very good setup.....
