View Full Version : Where/what do you revive for duels?

Hello, I'm a newb to Diablo (bought it exactly 1 week ago) and I'm a Level 76 Skelemancer (a bit of bone spear/spirit) who is focusing on PvP. I currently can do 54 summons at a time (34 revive), and I was wondering where the best place to revive monsters for duels is? Currently to prep for duels, I first go to Cold Plains and get 13 Skeletons/7 Mages, and of course summon my golem. After, I go to Worldstone Chamber and rape everything then revive like mad. Then I rush back to rogue encampment and get a few duels in before my revives die off... rince and repeat. It's kinda a pain in the *** to do all this but hey, I guess I have to. Now onto the more specific questions:

Where is the best/easiest area to revive at?
Should I be reviving specific mobs or just right click randomly like mad (34 revives)?
If so, what mobs specifically should I look for?
Is there an easier way to keep your revives up instead of having to make a whole new army every 3 minutes?

That's all I can think of right now, but if anyone has any input at all, I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks :jig: :jig: :jig:

* Best = Depends on what class you're actually gonna be dueling against.
* Specific types would bde best, but once again, dependant against what classes you are dueling against.
*See answer 1 & 2
* Revives die after 180 seconds maximum. Can be shorter if they are killed or wander off.

Also, it is normally consider bad manners to use revives in duels. But if it is dealing with the occasional smartass or an "anything goes" pubby duels, then by all means go for it.

Although I don't duel, I can see vipers being one of the best/worst revives possible.

good revives: tomb vipers in halls of vaught and gloams (actually called black souls in WSK)
easiest: pindle (alrdy dead people) or you can just use these guys to make skeles and then go to WSK to get gloams or Halls to get vipers

Bad manners to use revives? You are telling me I maxed out revives for nothing? Revives are more than half of my summons and are just part of my skills... I don't see why it's against the 'rules'.

Natural/Anime, thanks for the advice, I'll try them. And where are the pindles located and are they any good to use as revives or are they completely worthless? Thanks again :jig:

IMO big monsters make ideal revives. Not only do they protect you from being hit, but also make it pretty much impossible to get a namelock on you.

It has always been considered bad manners to use revives in duels. Most dueling leagues do not allow the use or mercenaries or any summons that cannot be made from town (ex: a golem is ok, but skellys, mages, revives are not).
If you only pubby duel, then those are normally anything goes, since there are very few who use good manners in them. Just don't be suprised if some people are rude to you about you using revives on occasion though. Especially since the minion stack can really reduce your chance of being hit.

Pindleskin is just inside the red portal next to Anya in Act 5 after you have freed her from the ice. As soon as ou walk in that portal, there are dead monsters all over the ground. They'd be useless as revives in a duel, but are great for instantly summoning your skeletons/mages out of them.

So far, I have NEVER been said I use bad manners, because of my Skeletons (only for Iron Maiden  ), also never met a Duel where it was forbidden. Taking the minions from a Summoner is basically the same as 100% resist vs a Sorc.

Summoning? Bad manners? I guess its bad manners for a Sorc to use anything other than melee... :lipsrsealed:

BACK TO THE TOPIC, what is the best general area for good revives?

Revives are usually considered bm when teleporting because they make you invincible for the most part (only leap and MB can really get you out of your "stack")

However, when I'm being BMed against, my favorite revives are what I call my "teddy bears". Wailing Beast, within the temples found in the Kurast Bazaar, Lower Kurast, Upper Kurast, and the Causeway. Only thing a hammerdin can't touch, and it pisses off other bone necs too (who are known to AA like madmen at times)

Of course, if you are not poison, you'll need to use a merc to get them :)

I don't make the rules. Was just telling you what the norm is at most dueling guilds/communities. Like I said pubbys is pretty mu ch do whatever. No need to shoot or flame the messenger.
