View Full Version : FCR Wands on HDins
Does anyone still use FCR Rez and life Wands on Hdins anymore, or is Shard still the best bet? Asking because I just found a tri-rez FCR Wand with life and FCR.

Shard is better for a hammerdin.
Tri-Resistance Wand is better for a sorceress.

Wand is only good if your a blizzer.
if you have the right gear, a wand using hammerdin could work very well
A scepter with +2 pala skills and +x concentration or +x blessed hammer IS THE BEST WEAPON FOR HAMMERDINS. Of course having fcr and resists on it would make it godly, but extremely unrealistic aswell. Ive done quite a few tests on this and even a paladin with a simple +2 all skills scepter does 0.1% more damage over time than with a shard, if the +2 scepter pala hits the 30% fcr breakpoint and the shard dude hits the 80% one.
After running several tests with the Wand, Shard, and My +2 Pala FCR Scepter, I can say that it's really up to the rest of the gear as well as the user. For now though, I may trade that Wand for some nice Pala Armor that was just offered to me.

for me +2 fcr +bh//conc scepter > shard. Dont even think of a wand because it stinks. Yes it has nice resist but your already a tank so go for more damage. I prefer 80 fcr w/ shard than 30 fcr with scepter, but i prefer 50 fcr with scepter than 80 with shard :D

Anyway, one big reason why i like using a scepter (especially the ones that dont look like hammers while wielding them) is simply the looks. Shard looks so cliche that it makes me sick. Scepters, however, have a cool green shine about them. And you dont need to put any points into dex.

Scepters look more cliche than anything, 90%+ of West Hammerdins use sceptre, not very stylish.
I have and always will prefer the mana, resist and faster cast rate of a shard to the bulky sceptres. Heck, Shard and Nightsmoke combine to make unlimited mana.
I'd rather spin a hurricane of lessened hammers (7-8k) then a few large (9k+) hammers. As hammers don't tend to be the most accurate things in the world. It's the difference of a machine gun to a shotgun.

On east its mostly shards :D
Shard is more defensive, but having 10k hammers is pretty cool imo, especially when raiding games

I just like having juicy mana and cheap gear.
I love having to pot rarely, I always have hated mana using characters because they are fragile and require attention to both health and mana.

Dred
Don't underestimate Wands, "Dred." They work just as well as Scepts and Shard if you know what you're doing.

PS - Yes, you spelled your name as "Dred."

With shard +2 shield +2 ammy and 1 soj I did 9.6ish k dam with cmd. 80fcr
With my +2 +2 sceptor it was 12k with 40fcr, this setup was MUCH more effective,
I found the extra 3 k was worth the minus fcr and mana.

Shards are fragments of the great Mage's big Crystal Ball thing.
They were meant for Magic.
They are god.

40 fcr is 10 away from next breakpoint ><

Shard is more defensive, for HC I can see why you would use one. Because hammers can stun when they do XX% of enemy life, shard and increased faster cast rate can result in getting hit less, because the monsters will be stun locked more often. but also slower killing speed, which still might mean taking more hits in the long run but a slower rate of taking damage, so less chance of death. Sorry if that was confusing. I currently am using a scepter for the first time this season and really like the results.
I can't stand 30 fcr, so I would only recomend a 50 fcr scepter setup otherwise shard if you don't have the right gear. 30 fcr you end up getting hit a lot when the enemies would of been stunned with 50 or more cast rate.
Shard is too common, especially on HC, but scepter looks like crap if you use a bone/grim shield. Plus, the only reason I play HC in the first place is to look cool in the channel so I sure as heck am not going to use an ugly gear combination. I recomend a gold/red barbed/spiked shield, gold/red tower shield, or a red/green/gold kite/gothic shield.

I care about what my gear looks like, but only the gear visible to other players =D
