Nothing beats the raw power of the Fishymancer. Check the stickied guides in the necromancer forum, and look for the Fishymancer guide by Nightfish. Excellent work. If you have more questions, just post them here, the forum members will be more than happy to pitch in advice. Good luck!

The 2 summon builds I'd suggest are the fishymancer and the commando builds.

Commandomancer is hands down the more fun of the two.

20 Raise Skeletoin
20 Summon Mastery
1 Clay Golem
1 Golem Mastery
1 Summon resist.
1 Amplify Damage.
1-7 revives
1 Decrepify
Prerequisites
As that is only about 52 skill points, there is different opinions of where to go from there
Variants include:
20 Corpse Exp
More in Amp Damage
Attract
Decrepify
---------
20 Skeletal Mage (Not as popular)
1 Lower Resist
More revives.

As a commando, you fight in front just like the rest of you minons instead of a lazy bum just stay back and does nothing. In short term, you're actually clickng things
Kay, ...Here is what I have so far:
---
Level: 69
Stat Points Remaining: 185
STR: 85
DEX: 25 (No points added.)
VIT: 100
ENR: 25 (No points added.)
~~~
Skill Choices Remaining: 30
Raise Skeleton - MAXED (20)
Skeleton Mastery - MAXED (20)
Skeletal Mage - 1 Point
~~~
I'm thinking :scratch: about maxing out Corpse Explosion. (Followed the Fishymancer guide.)
What really confuses me is the Curses.. :embarassed:
Does Decrepify also use Amplify Damage?? Because I'm going to Max out either Amplify Damage or Decrepify...
Suggestions, opinions, comments etc. :prop:

Maxing a curse is a TOTAL waste :wink3:
Just max CE or Mages instead. Amp Dmg only increases range and duration, Decrep only Range. Not worth the skills.
Amp Dmg is very good for packs and has -100% DR
Decrep has -50% DR, has a lower range and thus is not good for packs. Use it on bosses, because it slows them.
For the stats: get as many as possible into Vita. If you can get one, make a Merc with Insight (no mana problems).

Curses are a 1 point wonder in general...just use the extra points to max either CE or mages depending on what you max first.

Totally agree on these points. Even a few + skills from gear will take your curses to good radii and duration. Put those points some place where they will help you kill, like, as Mammel said, Corpse Explosion. You'll love it.
I also have a fishmancer. Maxed SR, Maxed Sm, maxed corpse. im fine controlling crowds but it takes forever to kill act bosses like diablo and baal even with my merc. any options avaliable to pick up the speed so i can mf baal more often? :scratch:

CB on the Merc and a CB Revive or two.
From the Blizzard strategy guide:
Decrepify: Target's Speed, Damage and Physical Resistance -50%
It slows down the cursed monsters without freezing them (or shattering their corpses), slows their attacks and makes them half as effective (like the weaken curse), and lowers their resistance to physical attacks by half.
Each extra point increases the duration of the curse (and unfortunately, it takes a lot of points to get a decent duration that is more than a few seconds)
Amplify Damage: Physical Resistance - 100%
This makes your melee attacks twice as effective, and according to the Blizzard Guide will also remove Immune to Physical attacks (especially useful on Hell) but it does not slow down monsters or weaken their attacks.
Each extra point increases the area of effect and the duration of the curse
A couple of points to remember about the Necromancer's skills:
The damage from Corpse Explosion is 1/2 Fire Element and 1/2 Physical
Neither of these curses help Poison spells - these are considered Elemental spells - or Bone Spear/Bone Spirit - these are considered Magic Spells
You may also want to consider adding a few points into Lower Resist, which acts like Amplify Damage except it works on elemental magic - Fire, Cold, Lightning, and Poison. Each extra poin in this curse increases the area of effect, the duration, and the total % lowered.
Personally, my Necro uses Golem and Revives for minions, and Bone Spirit, Corpse Explosion, and Poison Dagger for my main attacks. I use Decrepify when I stand back and let my minions do the work, and Lower Resist when I attack a monster head on.
Hope this helps.

CB on the Merc and a CB Revive or two.
Indeed, give your Merc a Guillaume's, he'll love it. Revive some of the Venom Lords from Ventar's wave. Make sure Gumby has slowed down Baal, and Amplify Baal. Just join your forces in the fight and hit Baal as well :wink2: .

Well, the commando mancer sounds great if your rich. It seems like everyone assumes that all players can afford really high level stuff. Any guide that is built around that kind of thinking is not much help for me. I am poor and will probably stay that way, it makes things more interesting for me.
I too am working on a skellimancer and as I read these threads I have learned a lot you all are very knowledgeable and helpful.
But I have a coulple of concerns about skellimancers, one how do you successfully deal with PI's? I have no doubt that I can get to act 1 hell. But a lot of good that does me if I get devoured every time I go for the countess.
How do you all successfully deal with PI's? Running away is not an option.
Will CE do it? I was under the impression that only dealt physical damage.
Mages are nice but things can happen to them and then you are screwed.
Bone Spear sounds like a nice option because you can cast it without needing cropses.
I normally would not hop into the middle of someone elses thread, but I think my questions are rellevent to the discussion.

You dont need to be rich to make a commando build in general...there are many other options for weapons than beast...and equipment overall for that matter.
The way I handle PI's is to first cast amp to remove it most of the time...or mages so that they can have something to do if it's a mini-boss that I can't remove it from them. Mages I find very useful in many situations...especially in acts 4 and 5 for when DV doesn't seem to reach the black souls and gloams...even though I cast it at the edge of the screen. That's where mages really shine...when others are dying the mages are there doing their job.
CE would help with the PI's as well...though I only really use it in acts 4 and 5 for when I'm mfing big D and Baal in hell. And even am in the process of getting it maxxed out on my MF Commando.

Most guides list only the top gear for a reason. Listing all workable gear is a hell of a job and ends in a list several posts long. By listing the top gear you know what to hunt for. A bit of browsing on your own and comparing your current equipment to the proposed "ideal" should give you an idea on what you can use. Not that people actually do this, but it is the general idea.
Alright, Thanks for the help guys :)
