Where did you find your best rune in SP???

Greetings. I just found a Vex rune in SP. It dropped from a normal twig chest (not locked) in Act 5 on players 8 settings. My hammerdin is level 91 at the moment, and leveling up is nothing short of painful. This rune is just the morphine I needed... And so I ask you, Where did you find your best rune (highest level rune)? What level was your character, and what player settings were you on? Cool, now all I need is Pul, and I got a Hoto. That would be sweet... later. :thumbsup:

My best rune find was my jah (which i still have in possession, not much i can do with it) it was droped from hell pindle on p8 with my blizz sorc.

Best rune I've found on SP is Ist rune from Pindle.

Setting were on /p 1 and it was by my lvl 90 meteorb sorc when she was level 89 I think.

Ahaha, mine was Gul from hell Hellforge, but if Hellforge drops aren't counted, then Mal from The Countess, but if special drops are not counted, then Pul from a random fallen in Act 1 Hell.

Since restarting I've gotten one um and one pul from hellforge. When I played before I found several ums.

3 or 4 from hellforge
1 from hell Meph
1 from hell Countess
1 from NM Ancients way
possibly 1 or 2 more that I've forgotten about

If I'm not mistaken, hell Countess is the best place for any rune ist and lower making her the best place to look for a pul. :smiley:

My meteorb found a Gul rune from the Hellforge. Players 1. That same meteorb later found 3 Ists from Countess runs, 2 from Countess herself and 1 from a fallen on level 3 on the way to the countess. All players 1. 2 Mals, also from the Countess, by that same meteorb. Also a Mal back in 1.09, from the Bloody Foothills in Nightmare, players 8, by a Paladin.

My best is a Lo from a basket in Hell Durance Level 2, players 2 I believe (was mp'ing with a buddy). Same character found an Ohm 48 hours earlier on the way to the countess...level 4 in the tower I believe, on players 1. Those were both in 1.10.
In 1.11 I've received a gul from the Hell Hellforge and an Ist from the countess, as well as one from the Hell HF, along with several Mals and Ums from the countess (5500 countess runs in 3 months yields a lot of decent runes).

What level was your character, and what player settings were you on?

I can't remember the lvl of chars in all those drops, and it doesn't matter either, because clvl has no effect on drops :smiley:

indeed yes. and i found far more mid level runes in the few months that i played on us east than i have ever found in twice the time in sp, by a very wide margin... some days on bnet it felt like the twilight rune zone.

Funny thing is, I never found a Gul. I never found an Ist. However, I skipped over those, and found two Vex's! One was back in in 2003, and I believe it was somewhere in the the river of flame (t'was probably the hellforge--been so long I'm not sure). The other one was from a random unique in--get this--the MAGGOT LAIR!!! I've used one of them in a Heart of the Oak. The other one is patiently waiting for me to make up my mind.

For me I found a Fal rune from some normal monster doing bloody runs in nm.

Granted my Barb is only lvl 80 (BTW my first character that made it to Hell on its own :smiley: ) and in A2 Hell but I have done several (5+) pit runs and Hell Countess runs, but she seems to always drop really low ones (so far only ones over Thul was 1 Amn and 1 Hel), it seems see always has dropped an Eld rune, go figure.

Edit: reread the post above me and realized that I have found 3 Hel (1 from countess), 1 Fal but none of the ones inbetween (sp?) so no Io, Ko, or Lum Go figure

Highest outside Hellforge is a Pul from some area in act 2 Hell. From a regular chest, IIRC.


The BEST runes are (for most of my characters) any of the handful of Shaels they find. Once or twice I´ve found one in act 5 Normal. Finding one that early is excellent. :thumbsup:

Other notable finds of 'really good rune for that character, at that stage' are

* a Lem from NM Hellforge with my Swordmistress amazon. It was later used to make her a Passion Champion Sword near the and of Hell act 2.

* The Pul rune that my S/U Worshipper tourney barb got from Hell Hellforge. He used it to upgrade his Fleshrender, and that made him a lot more powerful for the endgame.
