I have a lvl 81 Meteorb Sorc and was thinking about getting Tal's Set. I was wondering what ppl think about the set.

Very hard to beat this set for 2 element sorcs unless you use much, much more expensive equipments. Read the -15% resist as "+15% final damage and more if enemy has high resist"

As a lot of people already stated, Tal is awesome for excellent balance between MF and survavibility, with good offensive power (- ennemy res is great !)
Plus, it is WAY cheaper thant the godly unique-equipment...

I am currently levelling a meteorb, and i plan myself on using Ful Tal ^_^

I can't wait to be 71 !!

I never hesitated between Tal and something else... You could get a little more MF with Tri-Tal and Occy, Shako etc. and get a little more firepower, but don't ruin yourself to get those if you can get Ful Tal (or already have).

Only point of indecision concerning Tal : the shield to use.... I don't have Storm, and I'll have to try Gerke, Whitstand or Visceratuant... I play HC and want to go max block, so long Spirit Monarch... :os

I personally hate Tal's set. Don't get me wrong, the resists, MF, and skills are a great combination and the set is very effective. It's just, oh, how can I put it....ugly as hell.

Take it as a Fancy Dress Bal, we're here to be effective. Even if goodlooking character is important to self esteem, Tal has so much in its favor that it's not such a big pain in the ***. Besides i don't spend my time watching my char but the ennemies or drops in front of me ;op
Wanna talk about Leviathan baba look with destroyer helm ? (you know these ugly horned saucepans)

Tal's is great overall. As it was stated in the "Truth about Tal's Set" thread, this is good for Dual or Tri-Elemental sorcs. Try to get a Lidless Eye with +2 to all masteries if you don't already have one. (At least for the 2 elements you are using if dual.) It will add to the effectiveness of the set.

edit: If anything is ugly about it, it's the death mask.

It's not gorgeous, but it impresses the noobs when you stroll in glowing.

But seriously, I'd guess it's the cheapest way (by a HUGE margin) to get as much FCR, Skills, MF and resists. True, if you had unlimited wealth, it wouldn't be ideal, but for folks like me who can't necessarily drop 6-10 HR on arachnid and SoJ's, Full Tal's makes a very hellworthy sorc for about 1.5 Ist.

Incidentally the fact that tal's doesn't have tons of +skills, I think a spirit shield is mandatory. It also takes you that final jump to the 105% tele, which I now believe is critical for high speed, low risk MF runs.

For all of you using Stormsheild, try spirit once, add Magefist and any fcr ring to hit that 105%, I almost guarantee you'll never go back. It cut my times noticibly and probably doubled my "not dying" rate. I can't remember who it was who said this, but it's perfect:

"With 65% FCR, you can tele to meph safely, but with 105% FCR, you can tele there while scratching your balls."

Do it for your balls.

Seriously man. You get there without blinking twice. If you equip your merc with Infinity you have -15% on all 3 elements and all kinds of other bonuses, and just pump everything into Vit since you're gonna use Spirit. You'll never die with the buttload of life you'll have.

Is tal's set really that good?
Right now I'am using a non es/non block FB sorc using Occy, Shako, Vipermagi/Skullders, Saracans Chance, Natures Peace, 37 MF ring, Magefists, Tal's Belt (I actually wanted Goldwraps) and some 10%mf Ice/Lightning res boots, and 34% spirit.
Should I try to replace some of this with tals set? Which would be better?

Forget about Tal's if you are 1 element. You can get better gears and mass of rainbow facets of that element. 2 element sorcs can't do that since they would have to split their facets around, and become less effective.

If you are poor, it's not a bad deal, though.

Well tal's is still pretty expensive on ladder so I guess tal's is out of the question. Also, why are facets so good? All they seem to do is add 5% more dmg which is added after mastery, so why is that a big deal? Is it because of the -5% on it?

Evrae Altana

The +5% damage is very noticeable for cold sorcs since Cold Mastery lowers enemy resist instead of boosting your own damage. For light and fire sorcs, the -% enemy resists helps them out a lot.
