HELP: Starting my first Barb

I was wondering what the best type of PvM Barb would be? where to put stats/skills... Equipment.. I guess mainly for CS and Cow runs?

I was thinking Fredsta's Titan Baba
My best weapon right now is probably an almost perfect Bonesnap.. I'm not too rich.

Whirlwind or Frenzy?

I got tons of set items, few uniques.. I don't tihnk I can afford Goldskin or many godly rares.

-Sigon Helmet, Sigon Gloves, Sigon Belt
-Rattlecage Gothic Plate
-Angelic Halo, Angelic Wings, Manald Heal Ring
-Goblin Toe Boots

Skills
Max Mace Mastery
Max Whirlwind
Max Battle Orders
5-10 in Natural Resistance (Just so you can get out of negative resistance in hell)
1 in Battle Command
Rest in Shout

Stats
170 Strength (So you can switch out of Bonesnap for Martel eventually)
Rest Vitality

-WW is the definate skill of choice
-A high bonesnap with a solid amount of str kills fine in hell
-Barbs arent used for killing in cs, Although lvling in cs dealing out nice bo is the best way of lvling
-The most fun I have for pvm is high str maul barb mfing in trav or raiding in trav, I leave dex and energy base, Str up over 200 (depending on lvl your taking him to) rest in vit.
-Trav running items or any mfing in hell----
-armor gskin or angelic armor (depending on GFing or MFing)
-Ammy- Angelic
-Rings - one angelic (enough AR) , one duel leech ring with lr 2x fr2x (or 2 angelic if using angelic armor for mf, 50mf in each ring)
-boots - lr fr 3x gf and mf
-gloves - ideal is duel leech with gf and mf, if you can get lr on them as well then beaut
-helm - tarn or 3 gemmed p topaz
belt - gold wrap
- weapon - Bonesnap is better then any mart lower then 225 IMO

popping corpses--- throw on a couple gulls

20 Mastery
10ish to find item
7ish natural res
I like to put the rest in shout, depending on lvl you are taking him to

Putting 1 in Bezerk is neccesary IMO. The immune to physical's will give you a problem in hell mode.

Ony really occurs in Arcane and maggot lair and the odd unique monster.. Other then that, it is not a problem

This is true.
In Trancival, Icefinger or Firefinger are almost 50% of the time Immune to Physical. Sparkfist is also a frequent physical immune.

Fair enough. Im always happy to lure that one char away, leap back over the wall pop all corpses and high tail it out of there. Not a bad idea for that instance, i stand corrected.

I wouldnt go with a titan unless you use a lance, with pure strength you really need that range 5.

A perfect bonesnap kills faster than a 300 damage martel, in games with low player settings (pvm)

Frenzy is far more fun than ww, is safer, and much cooler. Dont think about making a frenzier unless you can afford good weapons, though. (40ias good dmg naga//knout)

Sigs helm + gloves
angelic ring + ammy
mana steal ring
gob toe
perf bsnap
gskin eventually, in the mean time just resist armour

20 ww
20 bo
NONE INC SPEED
~50 res all from nat resist
1 bc
20 mace mastery
20 shout
Rest to whereever, iron skin if you want

150 vita
rest to strength

Prepare to own.

@lukejames: in pvm gskin is far superior to rcage, with bnsap + gob toe you already have enough cb, the monster flees mod is annoying, and with strength pumped for damage (you will have ~350 at higher lvls) you need at least close to maxed fire//light resist

@uglybastard: havent seen you in a while. When are you online? Can i get my bow back? :D


EDIT: beserk barbs are also viable, and a lot of fun. A high ed steeldriver is your dream weapon due to low reqs (beserkers need a lot of life) solid dmg, and built in 40 ias. 1h beserk barbs are not viable pvm

Heres a mini guide-

20 beserk
10 howl
10 shout
~15 warcry
20 bo
~5 mace mastery
Rest to mastery or howl//shout


perf steeldriver
deaths combo
Twitch to reach next breakpoint, or gskin for resists (check an weapon speed calc)
Gtoe
Angelic ammy + ring
Ar//stat//resist ring (remember mana//life steal does not work with beserk, but you can use lvl 1 conc if your bulbs get low)
Helm is up to you.. itharas looks pretty good

50 strength
rest to vita

Warcry then beserk away :)
