When you think about it, it's stupid to say that a build requires you to be in the 90s for it to be truly effective.
That's what they're saying with windy druids but that can't make sense.

Why do people max oak sage first when they have enigma planned in their build?
Sorcs have the same life problem and they don't have anything to boost their lives.

Why not let the good defense be a good offense instead and go with maxing grizzly or dire wolves?

Also, do all the wind synergies really need to be maxed?
Does cyclone armor for example really need maxxing?

I'd advise maxing wind synergies while dropping points into Oak sage along the way. I'd rather not maxed out Oak Sage first just to get more life. Maxing out cyclone armour will give you higher Tornado/Hurricane damages and it allows you to absorb more elemental damages. Putting one point into the summons is good enough for me. This is because your equipment in late game (meaning level 75 and beyond) will add on to that sufficiently. Put a point into Carrion Vine if you want to so that you're only concerned with drinking mana potions (only apply in early-mid games, because late game, you're pretty much invincible :P).

I don't think it's right to say that a Windy needs to be in the 90s to be truly effective (in fact, I think it is totally wrong!). My Windy can go through some areas in Hell mode (refering to places without lightning enchanted creatures or physical/cold immune creatures) when his level is less than 70 and wearing gears picked up along the way back in Normal mode/Nightmare mode (meaning no torch or anni or Spirit or Hoto) . He has no problem clearing all levels of Hell mode beyond level 75 after he can wear the typical Windy's gears.

I was worried about that since the one guide for windys ia a pvp guide by fenris.
And he says he finished his build at level 94.
I know most people don't ever get into the 90s with their characters.

I was thinking maybe 10 points in oak and the rest in grizzly or dire wolves.

Which is the better summon?

After looking at their attributes and some experience, I'd say dire wolves.

In pvp, they act like the necro summons and get targeted first. 3 of them means more things hitting your opponent meaning more blocking on their part.

Less life that a grizzly means less life-leech for the hostile melee as they die quicker. It's not like I was depending on my summon for damage to begin with right?

And is hurricane affected by iron maiden?

I don't advice putting more than 1 pt into any of the summons if you're building a Windy. You can refer to http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=413174 for a pure summon guide.

I personally like raven+spirit wolves (provided the game isn't lagging). Not sure about dire wolves.

Not sure about most PvP stuffs because that's not my profession.

Hurricane isn't affected by Iron Maiden because it deals cold damage and is AoE (if i'm not wrong).

So it's tornado that deals the physical damage?
One of them is unblockable by all but assassins if I read right.

And why spirit wolves? After level 18, they're pretty much useless.
Atleast Dire wolves can do damage.

And this guy is a pvm with pvp once in a while so he has to be efficient.

I also choose spirit wolves over dire, they're not there for dealing damage, they're there to take the hits instead of me.

For bosses I use grizzly. All have 1 point only.

For PvM I don't max Cyclone Armor. I add like 10 points in it and max Twister first, because Hurricane and Tornado gain a damage bonus from Twister but not from Cyclone Armor(although it improves Tornado damage, it only adds duration to Hurricane). I prefer to maximize Hurricane damage than improving its duration. After maxing Hurricane/Tornado/Twister I move on to Oak Sage.
