Help With Occy

grrr whats the drop rates on an occy i have done lots of nm meph runs and now doing hell meph runs. cant seem to find 1 (with around 400 mf).

whats a good trade for 1n occy if i cant find 1? any help is appericated

Stating realm and L/NL status would help. Anyways, Occy isn't extremely expensive, so you should be able to buy one for a Lem-Pul.

Occy isn't too hard to find (1/1290 chance from hell meph w/ 400MF), and you can always buy it with no more than a Pul as the other has said. It's a pretty nice item on softcore, yet the price is dropping for some reason.

actaully you can get an Occy really cheap... doesn't really matter what realm you're in, I believe that Nightmare baal has a high chance to drop an Occy too.

I got mine for a Pul... I think I overpaid in USEast SCL. I think you can get it for something over a Lem, but I'm not sure. I paid 2 Ios, a Lum, 2 Sols and a Fal for a Pul, quite excessive IMO...

The occulus would be my choice of MF weapon if it weren't for the stupid chance to teleport thing.

It's suicidal on hardcore, but the teleport isn't that bad on softcore, especially if you go the max block route. For my lvl92 meteorb, there really aren't that many deadly packs that can one-hit kill me, and there's even slimmer chance that I happen to get teleported into such a pack just because I'm using an occy and get hit at the right time/spot. Most likely, I get into such a pack because I'm teleporting to baal and mis-click (and Occy might actually save me). The bottom line is that occy is quite worth its price for characters that cannot afford those expensive items.

I have found 7 Occy this season. One came from Hell Meph. ALL the rest came from random boss drops in the black Marsh as I was killing boss packs I discovered as I was searching for the Black Tower.

for some reason i find that occy helps me more.

For every 1 time it kills me it saves me atleast 3 times. Idk maybe after these years me and my occy have become good friends :heart:

Totally. Personally, among max block, max mana (i.e. ES) and max vit, I found max vit the least useful. I'd suggest max mana and use ES if you use lightning skills; otherwise max block is the best. Let's say you have 25% block with max vit, which means 3 hits out of 4 attacks; with max block you'll get only 1 hit. It's not a big deal when each hit doesn't do much dmg, but when you're in hell and doing baal runs, you're constantly amp'ed and 1 hit can mean 400 dmg, so the extra 2 hits means you need 800 more life to negate the effect. Each point added into vit gives only 2 life for sorc (w/o +% life items), which means you'll need 400 points into vit to get extra 800 life (you'll never need more than 300 points into dex for max block). The alternative is to wear dmg reduction and +%life items (or use expensive RWs like Call to Arms), but those limit my choices of MF gears, so I don't like them. Of course in the end, it's just personal taste, and I happen to like max block more.

The thing is, if you are going max block, you are reducing kill speed. If you are going max vit, you are reducing safety. A person like me (who likes to kill and tele fast) would go for spirit, and never play HC.

Anyways, if you are using Occy, have a switch to anything (like wizard spike, suicide branch, spectral shard, cracked javalin, fist, whatever). The reason is that when you are being attacked by ranged fetishes, the tele is VERY, VERY annoying. I found that out myself when I used Occy before I had Tal's orb.

Except for silly people like me who pumped dex to over 300 (I didn't expect that I could find so many good items this season and pumped most points into dex as a result). In general, I agree with you that Spirit is not quite viable for max block.

But max block with spirit would get to what... 42 %... long long way to 67 Storm, or 72 up'ed Visceratuant, or event 65 up'ed Moser.

Spirit has crazy mods compared to the runes it takes to make it, but the block penalty is way too much of a flaw IMO.

I am sort of mocking him for the 300 dex points he already put in. There is no need for that much dex even if you are blocking (as long as you are not trying to block with spirit, that is).

Anyway, 300 dex is way too much... except for an ama.
You need around 219 at Clvl 99 to get max block IIRC (calculator is on homepage anyway), which means 80 stat points wasted for an endgame char. I'd reconsider rebuilding your char if you can, Kuafu...

Nah, what I really meant is that I have 300+ dex with all my items. I didn't expect to find all the good items so I pumped the dex a little bit too high, but it's not as bad as I need to re-make the char. After all, I still have 800 life and 700 mana, and can repeartly do solo MF baal runs 5 minutes each.

Are you sure? My ATMA V lists nightmare Baal and Diablo (1st kill) higher than Mephisto (1st kill); and without 1st kill it's still Baal and Diablo in nightmare.
