Lite Sorc Prob.

Alright so I really wanted to make a lite sorc with infinity... and I did... just I seem to be getting my butt handed to me... she's lvl 72 and here's what I look like:

Shako (open socket)
Vipermagi (33 with ptopaz)
Eschutas (+3 with 19% lite dam)
Spirit monarch (32%)
Magefists
T-gods
2 fcr rings w/ crap mods
+3 lite skills ammy
War travs (42%)

My defiance merc wears:

Eth CV Infinity (314% ed :))
Leviathan
Tal's mask

And things will be going well... but if I get more than once I'm a goner. My merc can tank for a second... but he's usually gobbled up quickly also. Is this just b/c I'm only 72? I was in a full baal run with a lite sorc the other day (I was using my hammerdin) and her and her merc were ripping apart baal's minions. But I'm really having trouble taking 4 arrows from skele archers in the sewers to do the radament quest. My merc was having a hard time staying alive in there too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This build is for PvM and I would like some MF on her... but I know to be godly you have to kind of steer away from MF and go to raw power.

Your resistances look a little low. Maybe that's the problem.

lose the tgods unless your against light foes. and make sure your hitting the highest point of fcr u can, and um the vampermagi and um the shako

My Lightning Sorceress uses pretty much what you've got. Except my merc has Insight.

Here's me:

Lidless Wall (Perfect Diamond)

Aldur's Boots

Resists are 75/62/75/62 because I got two +15 to all Grand Charms as well.

5% block, 300 Vitality points, no CTA, and I do fine anywhere, be it teleing to Horazon, Countess, Baal, etc., etc.. Oh yeah, I also have Shiver (yes, Shiver) Armor. I don't use Energy Shield because that just gets me dead.
Oh yeah, 1000 HP, she's got. And yeah, I think what you need is more resistance, that's all.

Alright I was thinkin resists is the prob... so here's a few things I was thinkin'...

- I need to hit the 105% fcr break point
- I DEFINITLY need more resists
Options: Occy over eschuta
Either up and um my viper or switch to CoH
TRY to get arach

So my gear could look something like this:

Shako
Upped Um Vipermagi/CoH
Occy
Spirit
+3 Lite ammy
Magefists
FCR ring
Res ring/nagel
Arach
War Travs

And in my stash I have a torch... it's not a sorc one unfortunately (it's a zon) but I'm using it for +18 to resists. Would this help out my build alot then? Also is what my merc's wearing ok?

I guess all that matter for merc really is the weapon, lol. As for the armor and helmet, as long as it gives 75 resists in hell and some leech, I don't think he cares...

And yeah, I think you'll be better now like that. Seems like you have enough FCR, and your resists will definetely improve.

And oh yeah: Heart of the Oak over Occulus. 40% FCR and 30-40 resists if you can afford, would be better.

Also... Mara's over the +3 lightning ammy. -1 skill won't make that big of a difference.

Here's the prob about HOTO and Mara's... they kinda cost alot lol. That insight drained me pretty good... lol. I'm left w/ about 2-3 ist of wealth (but I can get some more IF i sell my HoZ) So we'll see! :) So the real debate is now CoH or upped um'ed viper?

If you cant afford a hoto or maras, dont get them.
My sorc: almost same gear except chancies, torch, anni and 2 skillers. If you can put your hands on a coh, do it. As long as you get the last breakpoint 115 or 113 fcr. My sorc has no problem in hell. So when you get those levels up a bit, shes gonna own.
My point is, maras and hoto are cool and good and sweet and whatnot, but you dont NEED them. If you have the coh, you have maxres in hell easily. even with viper occy spirit setup youre pretty close.

Exactly. For Sorceress. HotO and Mara's are like... good-but-not-worth-paying-too-much-if-you-don't-have-too-much. Occulus has almost all the same stats as HotO, and Mara's is just... +2 skills with resistance. I personally think Mara's are waaay too overpriced, but that's maybe because I can't afford that either. I just saw how you had Infinity and thought you were rich lol so I gave out those too options. :p My bad.

may i ask well the hell ppl uses maras on sorcs? :S either they are just stupid or they think its good. u can get the res elsewhere and the 2 skills can be switched for 2 sorcs instead. try get a 2 sorcs 10fcr and some extra mods on it, its not that hard to come by.

i thinks its 115 or 117 for light and Chainlightning. For others its 105 or 200 u should aim for =).

Right now my light mage is 91, and a big part of it is playing style. She was an older build that I kinda of just reequiped later on, meaning I had invest in energy, which i Never do nowadays. She presently pushed 50k lightning and has 2000+ life with BO.

But, you have to reemmber that you in fact a caster. Casters should strive to not get hit. Work on your tele skills and you should not have a problem. As for gear. My sorc uses:

Harly with light facet, maras, spirit and 3/19 eschutas on main, spirit and cta on switch, treks, arach, and frostburns (They give me a boost on my mana to allow me to use energy shield), and 2x sojs.

My merc uses a poleaxe infinity, a shaftstop, and a gaze. these allow my merc to be able to live though a casting of iron maiden

These items do come at a premium, however.

You mentioned you had a good eschutas, i think you should stick with it and try to procure a light facet. Same for your harly. I would try to get a lvl facet as they are generally less sought for some reason and in effect less expensive. The vipermagi is a good armor, I just prefer coh for the res and extra skill. The fast cast of viper should not be underestimated however. As for the tgods, I feel arach is almost a necessity for a sorc. The + skill, mana, and FCR are unbeatable.

The powered ammy is resonable, as are the fcr rings. I go with sojs as I prefer the dmg over fast cast. As for boots, I think treks are best for a non-mf sorc(without considering all of the duped ones out there.)

kilo - a griffons is much better then shako imo. makes much more dmg, fcr, etc.

Alright... total newb question... how do I craft +2 sorc/fcr ammys? And what would be more important... getting arach, CoH, or griffons. I dont think that it's possible to get 2 of the 3 for me being that I only have about 3+ ist of wealth left (I could sell my HoZ, but I would prefer to stay away from it).

i'm not great or do crafting at all but look up summit on caster crafter items. i'll post it here once i find it.
griffons is basically for the rich ppl out there as its hard to attain. arach as well as coh are important.

You can get resistance elsewhere, yes.

But when you are absolutely GODLY, with the best equipment you can get and stuffed up your buttocks with charms, then no you CAN'T get resistance elsewhere without sacrificing something. And that will either be FCR, skills, or FHR for people that bother with that.

So if you WANT 75 Resists in Hell, you'll have to get that either in your equipment, or by getting Charms. And when in the end you ALL your equipment, EXACTLY the amount of FCR you needed, with nothing else that can be replaced... but you still need that extra resistance to reach 75%, that's where Mara's comes in. -_-

But for the cheap and poor, then yeah it's stupid to get Mara's.

And sorry, a crafted +2, +10 FCR IS pretty damn hard to come by... You don't have unlimited Rals and Amethysts...

Alright... so crafted ammys seem kinda hard to get then... well I'll just steer away from that. I'll knock out the idea of griffon b/c I think I need CoH or Arachs more... I just dont know which one i need more.

If you cant afford griffons, I would stick with an upped ummed viper, because your gonna need fcr from somewhere... then use an ummed shako for hat. I do not suggest occy at all... random tele when you are trying to clear out a huge pack of gloams just sucks. eshutas with 10 more fcr will be better imo, that 10 will help a lot to surmount the 117fcr bp... arachnid mesh is a must also... personally i dont like having to wear fcr rings, but thats just me. This girl assists on uber trist runs as well though...

p.s. i dont use any cold shield and especially not es... ill keep my mana so i can tele away safely please and thank you:wink:

actually what you're missing is more light gc's.


My sorc only has Lightning, Charged Bolt, and Lightning Mastery, and she does 21K Lightning.

Imagine what adding 2 synergies would do. :P
