Is there a cap for life leech, or is more always better?
I know its penalised in hell, but is there an optimum value I shud aim for, or just keep adding more if & wen I can? Thx!

There is no cap on life or mana leech, and neither are subject to diminishing returns.

And I believe the cut is 1/3rd in nmare & 1/2 in hell is that right?
I understand there is no diminiching return, but wot happens wen its over 100%? I guess wot I really want to know is is there a lvl to aim for so I can look at my items & get rid of any I dont need LL wise? Or is it just a bit of trial & error?
Ps Thx the giant turtle! :prop: <-------New fav smiley!

And I believe the cut is 1/3rd in nmare & 1/2 in hell is that right? The other way. 1/2 in NM, 1/3 in hell.

Or is it just a bit of trial & error? If you have over 100%, then you just steal more life than the amount of damage you've done (life steal is based on the amount of physical damage you deal). How much you need is dependent on how much damage you do and how much damage you take. My zealot only has 8% LL, but with 90+ res all and 30k defense, that's plenty. My warcry/frenzier doesn't even have that much, but my 2-handed ww barb would die pretty quickly with only 8%. Your play style also factors in. Do you lure out and attack 1 enemy at a time, or do you rush right into the mess and take on 15 bloodlords at once?

Charging in2 a pack of 15 bloodlords at once is pretty much me, I guess for me thats the whole point of having a melee barb, to be able to do something like that. Atm he does 1442 min dmg/1403min dmg wiv double swing (odd skill I know but its kinda my own build n am enjoying it!) n he has 34% ll (a bit less than I thought :undecided: ) his dmg goes up a bit wiv BC on & my might merc with me. I could do with a bit more resists in hell, but with standard melee setup (dracs/gores/duress etc.) hes doin fine! As I said is it just trial & error or do I have too much/too little?
The other way. 1/2 in NM, 1/3 in hell.
Are U sure? So I leech more in hell than nmare? That doesnt sound right? Or have I miss-understood wot u mean?

You understood it the wrong way around. Leech is cut down to 1/2 in nightmare and to 1/3 in hell.

I'm a fan of double swing, and always go with what you enjoy. If you never worry about dying, then you might want to experiment with less leech, but I'd definitely say it's a trial and error process.
As to life leech penalties, when you said "cut" in your first post, I thought you were saying "cut to" not "cut by". In nm, you leech 1/2 of your leech %. In Hell, you leech 1/3 of your leech %. Also, each monster has a drain effectiveness that affects how well they can be leeched from (The life tap curse ignores drain effectiveness).

Right, so my leech is 1/3rd as effective in hell as it woz in normal? Got it. The DS is working out well, enjoyin it v much, hit often enuff for life tap to kick in, but never so much that I end up dying because I get hit while attacking & dont get a chance to withdraw. Thx for all the advice too!
