In regards to the act2 merc weapon, I haven't seen much discussion about the runeword obedience. I haven't made one yet, but I'm impressed with the stats on it, and considering that it needs 5 sockets instead of 4, it might be easier to obtain a 5 socket eth cryptic axe to use in it. In addition, the runes are real easy to obtain.

My question is, can this runeword be a merc's endgame weapon if you can't afford the more expensive runeword like doom and infinity? Or should I just stick with uniques such as reapers toll?

i personally would prefer obedience over doom anyways. obedience has just as muhc damage, some cheaper, and you may be thinking about the holy freeze doom gives. Act2 Nightmare Defensive Mercenaries have a holy freeze aura. and reaper's toll isnt all that great for merc unless its eth.

Obedience has some insane bonuses and seems to be a good choice for an endgame weapon. Elite eth polearm will easily reach around 1k max damage as the ed% bonus is fixed at 370%.

Reapers used to be THE choice but now with so many weapons that are both cheap and powerfull fewer people use it. If you find an eth one give it a try.

What character's merc is to be using the obedience? For caster's you just can't go wrong with an insight if their spells are spammable.

Last ladder, I used obedience for my sorcies mercenary. Was made in a cryptic axe (eth) and it was great. I thought of Doom, as my merc was a defiance aura one, but I just didn't want to have a more expensive merc than my character herself (tal sorc). It certainly can be a very good endgame weapon.

Obedience is very good and cheap at the same time. There is two things it lacks, IAS and life leech, but just make the RW into a fast weapon like eth thresher and give your merc a helm/armor with leech and he should be ok :smiley:

I use Reaper's on physical dmg chars mercs a lot. That weapon is strong enough to keep your merc alive, and the ctc Decrep is sweet, lowerig enemies physical resist by 50% gives very nice extra damage :love: If Reaper's had ctc Lower Resist, would you use it on a sorc? :wink3:

I absolutely adore the ETH Thresher obedience that I just made for my Fishymancer merc. If not for the cold damage, it'll be the perfect weapon without a doubt imo, buck for buck.

5.5 k++ max damage :awe:

Obedience is an awesome end-game merc weapon. For such cheap runes, you get 40% chance CB, insane damage, and resists on top of that. The only thing it lacks is IAS.

Thanks guys,

I was thinking of making this for a very long time, just need to find me an eth elite polearm. This is for my nm act 2 offensive merc for my bowazon.

Another question: I had always thought that the ias on the merc wasn't all that different nor noticeable. So when you guys talk about ias, does that really matter on a merc? I mean you can just make the runeword in a cryptic axe or thresher, which is decently fast starting off.
