View Full Version : Leap attack build ?
Hi all,
thinking of making a new barb, and wondered if leap attack would be useful as the main attack skill.
I've looked for guides as well as used the search tool, but nothing found. Probably means that there's no future in it. How far could you take a char like this ?
I think it would look cool, seeing a barb bouncing around like a huge rabbit :-)

True, its a strong attack, but it would take too long to kill groups of monsters with it. There's also some bugs with that skill, which is why most people only use it to pass obstacles.

Try this guide, its a little outdated in its equipment suggestions, but its still viable:

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it's more suited to team play ?
Also, the link doesn't work. I think I've seen that guide, but don't remember the details. Is there a typo in the link, or is it down ?
thx again

How far can you take em? Well DelBoy I've taken mine to about level 74 or so, and then I got bored... used a doombringer+shield as end-gear, but that was because I lacked a seriously painfull Maul. Its a great attack to use, very funny, and once you get the hang of it it kills monsters pretty well, but if I may suggest a load of deadly strike and crushing blow, I shall. I might make a rebuild one of these days with atma's scarab for nice damage. Bosskilling is a tad slow though due to the nature of the build.
Your weapon is a maul. There's no question about Blunt Force Trauma. You don't care about attack speed with this build, just damage. So, its either Maul or nothing. If you want to go 1-handed use a Legendary Mallet if you can get it. Slow is fine.
As for the rest of the gear, well, resistances are nice, CBF is also nice (although not needed per se), crushing blow is a very very very nice thing too. Skillwise it looks like this:
20 leap attack (ho-ho-ho)
20 leap
20 BO
a few points into increased speed
a few points into natural resistance
After that, you're good to go in any direction that you choose. Weapon Mastery adds a chance to do criticals, damage and AR, but with deadly strike and all it's not that neccisary. My suggestion would be Shout, for added defence.
Mmm, since I have both a levelling weapon (snap) and a somewhat endgame weapon (Windhammer) I might goa t the leaper again. Yeah, that'll be fun :)

Hmm. This is very weird. I checked the link yesterday after I posted it and it worked fine. I even went and reread the guide (quite entertaining). I'm trying the link now from here as well as from my bookmark, but its not working. I searched the forums and found further references to the guide, but those links don't work either.
It was working yesterday . . .
I guess you're out of luck.
Anyone else has a copy of the guide somewhere? I could host it with the permission of the author.
In reading the battlenet skill descriptions, it's not clear to me if Leap Attack pushes back ALL monsters within it's radius of effect, or just the monster you're attacking. The confusion is due to the example they give where they say a L15 Leap Attack has a knockback radius of 21.7 yards. But then they say that Leap attack causes knockback just like a Nef rune (which of course, only knocks back the hit monster).
If it is only a single monster, what's the meaning of the 21.7 yards?
Thanks,
Savvi

I hope you have alot of patience, i tryed to make one but got bored with it. Good Luck
thanks for the further input. From what Barry (many thanks for the build sketch) and BlahBlah are saying, it looks as if boredom is the biggest danger. Is this 'hammerdin boring', or just normal boring ?
I tried a 'hammered in' once and nearly fell asleep while playing. This isn't an experience I'm keen to repeat.
In the absence of other information, maybe I should put this idea on the back-burner for a while.
