Hello everyone, after some rough times like losing all three of my accounts on expansion, I figure I will move to a new environment in hopes of success. I am starting classic with only my knowledge from expansion play. I know that there are no Assassin / Druid and no Act 5 which makes the big leveling scene Chaos Runs. Well I have a few questions for all the classic gamers out there:

- Are there any other big changes besides the ones I listed I should know about?
- What character should I make to start and to mf/pvp with?
- What levels should I level at what? (Like when do I start Chaos Runs and what do I do until I get to that point?)
- Also I have heard about Barbarians who use the skill Find Item to "pop" items, is this a good way to mf?

Thanks to all who respond.

1. Changes :
- No Runes/Runewords
- No Charms
- Can only socket a RARE item with (3 Perfect skulls + Stone of Jordan + Rare item) recipe
- Unique items in Classic are crappy mostly
- Rare items dominate in Classic

2. Try a blizzard sorceress, they can work well with little to no gear and can do both item-finding and dueling effectively.

3. http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=413093

4. Poppers are not a good way to Magic Find, they usually have around 512% Magic Find, meaning extreme magic find gear and they do around 10 damage, useless without following people around in Chaos Sanctuary and popping items. Not a good thing to make unless you have tons of magic find gear and godly friends.

Thank you for posting, but about that leveling guide you sent me, the levels, are they supposed to be what level you start those runs at? Or what level you finish? Such as it has Normal Chaos Runs at 28, should I start at 28 or finish at 28?

-Another BIg thing is that gems are practically useless in classic. Don't bother looking for them, even skulls are just gold.

-Much smaller stash, ridiculous. You're gonna need tons of mules.

- Mercanaries are horrible. Never get them, just a waste of money. You can't give them items, or lvl them.

- Shields, max socket is 3.

What I do for lvling is

1-5 Blood Moor
5-8 cold plains
8-20 random raiding, Trist, Sewers 2 ALL NORM
20-28- Norm Cows
28-40/45- Nightmare Cows
45+ -Chaos Sanctuary

What I have heard is that when you are 90+, go for uniques udars such as champions etc. I can't confirm this since I only got 88, but my godly friends say so.

At level 91, Urdars give great XP, and they're easy to raid for. Only champion/unique/minion Urdars give good XP tho, and often they won't show up for a few games, although I've gotten 4 packs in one game.

I understand those to be the level of the area. Meaning that monsters around that level will be in that area. So, if you run normal CS at level 25 you will gain exp. If you run normal CS at level 32 you will gain little to no exp.

Someone correct me if I misunderstand, please.

A while ago I saw the formula for XP calculations, since then I've forgotten and lost it, but I can say that normal CS is pretty good XP until level 40 for those working with no title chars. I would still recommend cows in norm till 28ish

20 P skulls are worth a gull on ladder.

40 p skulls are worth a soj on nonladder.

Mercs are a waste of money, BUT you can level them, just watch for the "I feel much stronger now" words to appear above their heads.

Back in the older patches, mercs leveled up when you did.

The only use I have for merc is to hire Act 2 Defiance soldier when I go to Duriel. They don't last long when tanking him, but I noticed their aura help a lot when I do the tanking.
