View Full Version : Would this be a good boss killer?

Barb
20 Conc
20 Mace
Rest into crys

Rattlecage 25% CB
Bonesnap 40% CB
Goblin Toe 25% CB

For a grand total of 90% CB, would a build based around this be able to take out bosses ridiculously fast?

Unless you use IAS gear, Duriel's aura will make you attack at 30+ frames, which, with no block can be deadly. Whirlwind is still the best killer, bosses or no.

Whirlwind would be far more effective while using that setup

But yes, it would kill bosses fast

The fastest boss killer is a smiter

Crushing blow isn't that good on bosses.
It's like trying to kill a boss with static, it sure does a nasty dent at first.
Trying to kill them after they are down to half health becomes bothersome.

It's also really weak against cows and council.
I don't suggest it.

rubbish

Crushing blow is amazing

I agree with you about the static field thing, but with a bsnap you can also have 1.4k + ww dmg easy.. in addition to crushing blow

to elaborate, in 1 player hell games, a perf bsnap kills faster than a 300 dmg mart when paired with gob toe (assuming barb is wearing pure pvm gear, for mf//gf mart is superior)

And how much str does this build have?

Getting 300 strength on a build isn't viable to me.
Because I've had barbarians with Bonesnaps, believe-you-me I love them but they just do not fair well against level 88 creatures (Hell Council).

This was on a pure pvm barb

I didnt care about mf, gf, or csing. Hell, i wasnt even a baron

But i got to lvl 87 then it got 2 slow to lvl efficiently, and boing csing isnt rele my thing

anyhow,

i went 150 vita base + rest to strength... 1.4k ww is very high for a bsnap, this will be at higher lvls, at lvl ~80 i dont remember exactly, but its between 1.2 and 1.3k ww... assuming 295%+ ed

gear-

300ed bsnap
sig helm + gloves
Angelic ring + ammy
Ar, mana steal, lr fr ring
Gob toe
Gskin
+strength resist life war belt

I will quote what i said before, in games with low player settings, a 300ed bsnap kills faster than a 300 damage mart

Of course, in bigger games the mart wins due to raw physical damage being more effective than crushing blow when the crushing blow is fractioned, but i can assure you that the pbsnap will perform in 8 player hell games... i got to lvl 88 w/o much hassle, just joining big games and doing trav + river + flayer for exp

150 Vitality sounds too low for my likings.
At least in a duel.

I have one. Lvl 84. Same set up. RC, Bsnap (too bad mine is only 278%ED), Goblin Toe, Anglec's ammy and rings (sometimes I switch to Madalin for leech when it's PvM, Duel-Anglec's), Sigs helm (more AR), belt (defence), and gloves (IAS).

Good set up? This is an awesome set up. I destroy anything I come across. The only thing I worry about is Duels and IM. And IM I can get around with 1 in bezerk. If IM doesn't catch me IN WW (that sucks).

170 str (just in case I find a Godly Martel) rest into vitality. And Fred's right about the damage, though mine's not that high due to imperfect Bsnap.

It's a fun build to play, I stopped at 84 for the same reasons. Just seems to take forever to lvl after that.

CB is great, believe it.

this is for pvm

on pvm barbs, once you have life at a comfortable level + life steal, putting points to strength helps you kill much faster, and get more life back

In some ways, it makes you survive better than a pure vita barb

I'm thinking of following this build.
Do you think it would be viable once I hit the 70 strength needed that I do simutaneous strength/vitality leveling?
Such;
Level 10 - 5 Strength
Level 11 - 5 Vitality
Level 12 - 5 Strength
Level 13 - 5 Vitality

?

I've never needed crushing blow for trav runs. I also prefer a martel over bonesnap for the same reason crushing blow was hardly used PvP before 1.10. Leech is necessary to stay alive, and even if the monsters do die, they still have hydras all over, and I still need to be able to steal life from everything I hit, and the more the better. I also absolutely love any weapon (read: only martel in d2c) that has over 190 minimum damage. Add my 9min MF amu, 2 9min MF rings, and you have an effective weapon damage of 221-294. The huge minimum damage also makes it consistent, which is much better than 7x-330 from a Lance. With snap, the crushing blow might be inconsistent, and you'll be unable to leech much. With a sick martel and 250+ strength, you'll plow through everything, no crushing blow needed, and, as I do, you can get the much needed mods off boots (fire res, MF, GF, etc)

Yes that will work. Just don't get rushed too fast. Going to hell CS too fast, well you know.. not enough damage or life. But putting into one and then into the other is close to what I did. Just remember the Madalin ring for the leech. You'll need it PvM. PvP, that's about skill, long story, and I'm not that good at it, yet. Good luck.:wink3:

I agree. I just tried out my friend's Barb with a 236 Martel, and I must admit that I feel much safer with 1239 max damage with 2500ish life as opposed to my 908 max damage SDriver Barb. Kills much faster, and Trav runs are much shorter.

Everything is going well with the 90% Crushing Blow Baba but I have a question. How the hell do I get past lightning enchanted? At the moment, if I touch one, the lightning tears me apart in under two seconds. Should I pour into Natural Resistance?

LukeJames

Alright, the damage wasn't exactly as good as I would have expected.
I'm going to imbue two martels and hope to god one of them passes 235 damage.

Using a 299% Bonesnap, 21 Whirlwind (From Battle Command) and 170 strength (160 Base), I only do about 897 max damage. Not exactly the 1000 I was hoping for.
