Hi.

Many diabloii forum members have asked what to use on their sorcs... and budget is always an issue when choosing effective engame gear

Well, after much testing i can finally say what the best cheap setup is.

More on this later

The budget sorc is either blizz, or orb/thunderstorm

Full itharas
30/20 20 pris magic bone
blinkbats
hotspur
2X fcr rings w/ fr


20 orb
20 cold mastery
20 ice bolt
10 thunderstorm
10 light mastery
1 tele
1 teleknises
1 warmth
1 static field

Rest to static field or thunderstorm


Oh... yah its a sorc using this cheap gear that solos hell cs easy



For blizz use the same gear, just diffirent skill allocation (obviously)

Orb/TS doesn't solo hell CS as well as you would think. I have a level 87 FO/TS sorc, and still weak in raiding hell CS, due to inadequate damage (with +2 amy, 2 sojs). Blizz works much better.

blinkbat form is harder to buy than goldskin on europe NL.. so I dont know if this is a budget build
also iratha's gloves are hard to find unless you scam some newbie in a "trade sets" game
hotspurs = gs? so why not use gs and mf/fhr boots? most poor ppl use them

Blizz is better in all aspects other than it cant complete cs. Orb//Ts sorcs are the only sorcs that i consider viable to solo hell cs (within a reasonable time frame)

Some people prefer to do hell cs themselves for a more relaxed pace + all drops, its nice to take a break from pub runs once in a while

well, i originally used twitch + 3 pdiamond large shield + fhr fire res boots

Then i upgraded to p ward

Then to this setup

Im trying to get a rare 10/30/20 20 pris bone and pdiamond it, more stacked resists + the 42% fhr breakpoint... but that will be a while now

But my 30/20 20 pris magic bone will have to do for now ~~

What do your base stats look like on this blizz sorc?

wouldnt a Blizz/Ball sorc be a better choice for solo hell cs?

Could I mebbe also use a 45 ward(best I have atm, I traded my 50 a long time ago) ?
I guess the main focus is fire res. ;)
Thinking about it, I have most of the above lying around, soz I should get underway to making one.
But the choice between Bliz and orb... tough one that. Personally, I've never made a Bliz sorc yet.

This is lvl 20 Orb with lvl 20 Ice Bolt :
Mana cost: 34.5
Cast Delay: 1 Seconds
Cold Duration: 27 Seconds
Cold Damage: 366 - 387
(per shard offcourse)

And lvl 20 Bliz with lvl 20 Glacial Spike does this :
Mana cost: 42
Cast Delay: 1.8 Seconds
Cold Duration: 4 Seconds
Cold Damage: 1197 - 1299
Radius: 4 Yards

I think I will be going for Orb, more damage for the amount of skillpoints I want to spend on it.

TS at level 10 with lmastery at level 10 :
Mana cost: 19
Deals damage every 2.2 Seconds
Duration: 104 Seconds
Lightning damage: 234 - 490 (ø362)
Radius: 11 Yards
Which, combined with the static should be able to get rid of any cold immunes.

No king killing for this build though. :)

And, what to do if Seis does not want to cooperate ?
Anybody know if Seis can spawn with cold and light immune ?
I think that might happen quite a bit, cause he has cold immunity from his monster type(oblivion knight). Anybody have some facts on this though, cause this is pure speculation.

I do enjoy that both Orb and TS are finite, aka possible for me to max. Unlike things such as Bliz or Bonespirit, which are a whole lot harder to fill and to me require far too many skills to max.

Since you have been testing a lot, I guess this is the most viable Hell CS sorc(skillpointwise, on a +skill-less equip build).

How to deal with the physical damage though, cause I recall some of our friends from CS like to walk or run up to you and offer you a up close view of their shiny new sword.

And how mana intensive is this build ?

Would it be a good idea to put more points into teleport, making that cheaper ?
And what kind of energy/vit balance should one hold to ?
Although I guess the sorc will be a lush, chucking down lots of manapotions.

dont max the orb synergy IMO
seriously you get like 80 more damage (I have like 280-300 with +2 skills from silk and amu)

the synergy is a must for duels, but I think you dont need 20 pts in it PvM

you can spend them elsewhere

Don't split TS and LM. Max TS instead and go with 1 point in LM. The damage will be almost the same, but Maxed TS strikes more often.

With no +skills you'll want the added damage.

you could use a ward. 20/30 pris bone shield just tanks so much better imo, the fbr is essential imo, and it looks cooler :)

@warlockGC: Well if you focused on blizz you wouldnt be a hybrid, blizzers need to be fully synergized

is this build good for a mf sorc?

is there a great difference in killing speed, maxing out the FO synergy, ice bolt, for pvm? what about only 10 into ice bolt?

can this build work for pvp?

Unless you're using a Meph Glitcher to MF, then no, this is a terrible build for MFing. As for PvP, it will work for weaker characters, but you'll get run over by the really good duelers. Get some better gear before you make your Blizzer. :grin:

My orb MFer does just fine. You need high res. though.

20 Orb
20 CM (not quite maxed yet, doing just fine though)
20 Fireball
~8-12 Firebolt (synergy)

Im working on Max teleport right now. I haven't decided whether I would have been better of with Frozen or Shiver Armor in place of some of my skill points.

Make a blizzer with one point in static for MFing, and leave cold mastery to ~15 for the start, and CS it when you can, because having a 90 blizzer that can MF and CS is very nice to have, and also a good gambler (east to level too)
