SOJ Hunting Stats

Ok. So I went hunting for my first SOJ. I was hell bent of finding one. I decided to hunt NM Andariel. I have an MF char with 555 MF. Since it's NM, I don' thave to worry too much about killing speed. So, here are the stats:

Runs: 660 (stopped when SOJ dropped)

Ring Counts:

Nagel: 10
Manald: 7
Cathans: 9
Angelic: 10
SOJ: 1
Rare: 7
Magic: 0

My question is: Did I get lucky only having to do 660 runs to get my SOJ? ATMA says that in a 1 player game with my mf, the odds are rediculously low. Or since I seem to have the Andy drop bug, are my odds actually that much better? Just curious, hope you enjoy my scientific findings.

Congrats on the SoJ! (1 step closer to trigger DClone by yourself:))
Since you have the Andy drop bug, I believe the odds will be 1:1404 as shown in ATMA for "1st kill" (versus 1:3242 for a normal kill), so it is lucky to find one in only 660 runs. However, 660 is only the number of runs you have counted; you might have killed NM Andy many times before but didn't count. Since you have never found a SoJ before, you should count all those previous runs together. And also, you may not find another one in the next hundreds of runs, so the odds from ATMA can still be correct. For a better result, why don't you try to find a few more and find out the average?;)

BTW Atma 1:1404 is the chance for players1, for /players7 (P4 bonus) - it's 1:788! So 660 runs isn't too far....

i was lucky.. i did around 12 hell andy runs and found myself a perfect 5 ll bk..

How can you tell when you have the drop bug?
You can tell when you don't have the drop bug. Drop bug means that Andariel drops allways as quest drop.
Quest drop: no gold, no junk (potions, scrolls), no magic items, only rares, sets and uniques. Also gems, runes and jewelry ("good TC")
The only magic items should be
1) those that are failed sets (the durability should be 2x higher than normal durability - if it is not a throwing weapon or bow, where you can't say, because durability doesn't exist)
2) charms, because they can't spawn rare.

So if you find a gold, potion, scroll, arrow/bolt, magic item with normal durability, you have normal Andy drop.

i thought that atma calculated by drop count. ex.- 1:1643 Drops...correct me if im wrong.

i found my first soj as well off hell andy couple weeks back.
i remember my old sorc didnt have the quest drops and i got tons of gold all the time.

I found 4 soj's in my d2 playing life, two of them on baal normal, and two on andy nightmare I think... so brn is also a good soj run.

edit: no, one on andy hell and one on andy nightmare...

btw. Just found my first 3/19/20 on high council!!!!!! wow!!!!

i think i'm a lucksack, sort of.

i decided that i wanted a pair of sojs, so i made "free if wait" games. nm andy runs.

i got my first soj on the 34th run, and the second on somewhere around the 350th-400th run. about 500 mf.

i'm not a total luclsack though, because i have been playing d2 since a few months after it came out, and those are the only 2 i have found.
