I just calculated the number of S/U items I could expect from Hell Pindle at P1 and about 450 MF. Using ATMA (expected # of drops per kill) and summing up all Set/Unique items I get about 10 items / 100 runs average. Always killing all minions as well should get me 1 S/U more.

I did well over 1000 runs now and my experience is that I get about 13 or 14 items per 100 runs (including minions most of the time).

Is there something wrong with my calculation or is it just a streak of luck? 1000 runs isn't that much, but I got about 20% more items than I expected.

I suggest to look at Darkwell's 20K runs results. link (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=411293) .
10 items from 100 runs seems too low from my experience, but I do not count normal sets/uniques...

Well, Darkwells data is well in line with my about 1000 runs. Darkwell got 2665 S/U if I counted correctly. That is about 13.3 items per 100 runs.

I just can't get to that number from the ATMA dropcalc results. I suppose I misinterpret the results of ATMA somehow.. but where is the mistake? Expected number of drops per kill, summed up across all S/U items, should give the number of S/U items I could expect per kill. But (counting only pindle) it results in 0.096 per kill, giving about 10 per 100 kills. 8 minions add another 0.008 or such. Too low, as you said.

Interesting post, I must have missed that. Hmm, I couldn't help but notice that Darkwell lists that he found 20 prefect amethysts, 18 perfect diamonds, 11 perfect emeralds, 1 perfect ruby, 1 perfect sapphire, 14 perfect skulls and 13 perfect topaz's from the 20k pindle runes?

When looking at the number of flawless gems, they are accordingly lower, so it seems he cubed up a few, to save stash space.

BTW, how does the number of players affect the number of items Pindleskin can drop ? ATMA shows the same drop chances, no matter how many players I enter, while it changes e.g. for Andariel. I know that Pindle's drops are nerfed somehow, but does he really drop the same number of items, no matter how many players are in the game (respectively no matter if the /players command has been used or not) ?

In any case, the /players command affects his minions. I haven't checked that, but perhaps that's an explanation.

Pindle is a superunique, and his drops are not affected by the player count. If I remember correctly, he'll always drop x potions (3..4?), and 2 items.

With regards to the perfect gems, your probably right. I also noticed he didn't record how many potions dropped (he listed them all as 0), though I have no doubt some would have dropped. I guess he didn't think potions were worth it to record (and he's right).

pindle runs... does it means killing pindle ONLY or pindle and all his minions?

The pdf file said "Pindle +8 Minions", so it should be all of them together.
