Returning to game, Need new Friends

I am coming back into d2 after taking a long break at the end of 1.09, having alot of fun playing so far, but I am having trouble making friends and finding companions to quest with. This is quite an abrupt change for me, I used to have alot of friends in the pallapk games on USEeast who were always killing each other or doing cows, and I had a couple accounts full of good loot which I gave away when I quit. I am out of touch with all my old friends, so I figured I would make some support characters and try to make some new friends but it isnt going to well. I quit 1.09 after I found a stormspire and got bored of loot hunting, this new uberquest thing has me wanting to come back now, I want to builds some characters to play support roles in uber tristram and eventually earn the equipment for a nice melee/hammer/fisting pally(not sure which one yet).

Nobody really appreciates the help of my pally cleric. I also have a summoner necro that I plan using to provide life tap for the other players. Is there some trick to finding compaions that you guys know? I join public games and talk to people all the time but I would really like to be in a friendly group of people who will slay evil and exchange items with me.

My chars arent built very strongly yet, maybe that is why nobody is being friendly, my necro is at level 13, and I'm stuck deciding whether to make him lika a Fishymancer or if I should do a skelly/poison combo, my pally is just starting nm and has quite a vicous holy bolt which heals really nicely if only people would take advantae of that help more often. I am thinking of starting a blizzard sorc, as well.

Just wanted to say hi, see if anyone wanted to play with my, and see if I could get any advice for char build for poor players just coming back to 1.11, from what I've read so far it seems I need a caster to make it through without being rich and need a smiter for uber bosses, so I hope do do mf with my necro and healing with my cleric until I gather enough stuff to build a strong melee pally, does this sould like an efficient plan or is there a faster way to acuumulate enough power to beat the new quest?

Hi and welcome back! Seems like none of us can stay retired for long... Meeting people on b.net is hit or miss in my experience. Either people are mean and immature or you make friends with them and then they pester you constantly for free stuff, rushes, etc... You'll have much better luck meeting up with people from these forums who are much more friendly and helpful. There's a "player matchup" forum here (http://forums.diabloii.net/forumdisplay.php?f=31) which would be the ideal place to meet with like-minded people to play with. I'd head over there and introduce yourself and see who you can find....

Fun stuff, to the player matchup forum I go! I managed to make one friend so far in the game, a druid was geting owned by duriel but I hept him alive with my holy bolts until we could bring him down, that person turned out to also have a summoner necro that he used to help me through normal baal, and now I am in NM doing mosoleum runs because my cleric can only kill undead when my friend is not around.

Given that a person with nothing aspires to kill the bosses in uber tristram, what would be the fastest way to gather the necessary equip and build a capable char? Obviosuly you need an affordable MF runner which seems to be hammerdin, summoner, or meteorb, than you need a crushing blow melee guy which you get by gathering tons and tons of items, my strategy was to use the healing cleric for the time bieing to play a support role in uber tristram until my mf necro has gathered up enough loot for an ubersmiter. But I am trying to find out if there is a better way, if I should mf with a pally or a sorc instead of a necro, if I should even bother making a cleric at all, if I should make a barb/zon/assin/druid, of if I should just stick with necros pallys and the possible sorc.

Trying to use my time efficiently, it is the rarest resource I have, how can I accomplish the most in the least amount of time?

ok, so we have been moved to player matchup forum, but before this thread got moved I created another in this forum, so now we have 2 threads for putting together this team.

Sorry mods about posting in the wrong area, I was trying to talk about the difficulty of finding friends in the community thread and do the actual recruiting in th matchup thread, but now both threads are getting people who want to join the gaming effort.

Can we merge them? The other thread is "[USEast SC L] Casual play, hopefully rising to uberfighting power"

Also, windwingwind, if you are interested in joining us, (you would be the 3rd person from the forums so far including myself, plus one other person from bnet, making 5 of us) then send me or jimmy a private message and we will give you the details, we still haven't worked out which characters to use yet.
