View Full Version : Help with spammers
THe brother clan is spamming my account and threatening to hack me (they are doing this cuz i accidentally made a char a long time ago with the prefix brother.) Anyway, I'm waiting for an email back from the admin, but in the past hes been immature about these issues (he constantly puts people on his 24 hour spam bots). I need to know who I can contact about this, and if anything can be done. Can I squelch his account, get him shut down or what?

Impossible to hack accounts.
Possible to scam accounts.
Blizzard MIGHT do something about it if you take some screenshots and email them? Don't worry about getting your account hacked but you may want to change your password to a random series of letters, capitals and numbers if it isn't already.
Use /ignore on the spam bot I guess (I've never been the target of one...)
Lol, this is exactly the position I'm in right now. I encountered one of the BROTHER members (BROTHER_SAM, Level 35 WW Barb LLD, Acct: samseong-3, or something like that) while I was Norm Cowing, and I of course, he was acting all cocky and stuff, so I threatened to come PK him with my Level 80 Clegger. I didn't get a chance because someone ended the game, but apparently, he took note of my account name, and put me on some kind of spambot. I'm not sure if it's zeros or Os, but the bot that keeps spamming me is ooooooooooooooo@Azeroth or 000000000000000@Azeroth (15 Os and 0s in both). There's a command you can use to squelch messages from people not on your friends list, but I'm at work now, and I can't remember. I'll have it up here ASAP when I get home.

/squelch [user] - (Alias: /ignore) Ignores any future messages from that user effectively muting that user to you.

This thread is awesome.
Also, getting high levels to PK low levels is cheap and pathetic, and often the low level will get a high level to counter you.

Considering that you're on BROTHER, you'd think this thead is awesome.
Also, aside from my PvM Barb, the only other low level I had at the time didn't even have any points into it, so I had to make do with my Clegger.

Wow. I hope that site and clan are some sort of joke. I seriously think that is the most homoerotic site I have ever visited, no, it definately is.
Taken from the homepage:
"The brother hood is the most powerfull entity of light sent to Diablo to purge the evils and fight for the justice !! we will destroy the evils .. we will spread the word of light .. we are the light ! we are the truth ! we are the brothers of light !"
SOJ to the person who can find the most grammatical mistakes in that paragraph. Can anyone beat 17?
A few more typos from the superbly put together website:
"talk to the choosens of light"
"hatefull"
"restrict for guild members only"
"restrict for guild members only"
"restrict for guild members only"
"check here how to join and the requeriments !"
"Here you can discuss about Char builds"
"Here you can discuss about GVG builds"
"CLANS THAT ARE GOOD AT TALKING AT OUR BACK BUT IN FRONT OF PEOPLE THE TRUTH IS SHOWED UP."
"SLAINED"
"just to try "copy" our light style"
"most sad clan ever " -talk about irony
"enother"
"enother"
"made for the only purpose of try defeat us"
"Look what the realm think about the brotherhood "
"SUJECT A CONSTANTLY ANNOYANCE / PKING / HUNTING" and horrible grammar . . .
"buttom"
"given to the choosens"
"how your char is builded"
"Your BROTHER char have to be level 35 before perform any action"
"WICH"
"CHOOSEN"
" UNACTIVE "
"for the class you will inital play "
"be able to speak english" OK, so no errors here, but I thought it was hilarious.
"Have manner "
" Be 16+ Year old" I'm guessing this one doesn't apply to current members. . .
"If you attend all those requeriments"
" inivted "
I am sure there are more. Now I am no linguist, but wasn't it you Steveo, that was making fun of other people's grammar? And this is your clan website? Talk about a foreign language. At least Hiroshimana was doing it on purpose.
Here are the brother clan rules:
"1- Serve the light
2- Use caps buttom to talk while punishing the evil forces
3- PArty only with Brothers
4- Fight only in group never go alone because the evils are tricky and will try to spot you alone
5- Never show your items because they are tools of light given to the choosens and the evils may not know our weapons
6- Never give any info about how your char is builded
7- Your BROTHER char have to be level 35 before perform any action
- BROTHER IS A GROUP OF VERY CLOSE FRIENDS WICH MEANS FOREIGN PEOPLE THAT AINT CLOSE OR CHOOSEN CANNOT JOIN US SO DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME ASKING LIKE MOST DO BECAUSE THE ANSWER IS AWAYS THE SAME (NOPE) -"
And the requirements for anyone interested in joining:
"To join the [DTwO] Guild you must attend the following requeriments
- Have all skills / runes unlocked for the class you will inital play on the Guild
- Play at least 2 hours everyday
- Use Ventrilo and be able to speak english
- Have passion to PvP
- Be creative with builds .. keep working to improve em or make new effective ones.
- Have manner
- Be 16+ Year old
If you attend all those requeriments ... leave a msg here with your IGN (in game name) so we can contact you.. once contacted you will be inivted for a trial membership.. after 1 week of tests the guild managers will decide if you stay or not.
Thanks .. Art"
Wow, sounds pretty intense. Oh yeah, Steveo, weren't you the one accusing me and Zoola of taking this game too seriously? ROFL, talk about a hypocrite.
I also find capitalization mistakes such as "HOw" annoying because it shows that someone didn't even bother to read over their post before submiting it.
And from Steveo's website (the clan rules section, go check it out)
"3- PArty only with Brothers "
I'm not bothered by people who speak (type in) broken English due to not knowing the language, but mainly find it irritating to read posts in the "ten year old on AOL" jargon. Chances are anyone who speaks English as a secondary language wouldn't replace "two" with "2", "you" with "u", or "are" with "r".
...
To summarize, I don't have a problem with people who speak imperfect/flawed English as a secondary language, but I find it annoying when someone types like a ten year old on AOL and hardly gives any thought to what they post. Many of the obvious misspellings have nothing to do with not knowing English, but rather it shows that a person doesn't give enough thought to a post to proofread it before they click "Submit". An occasional typo is expected, but having every other word spelled incorrectly really annoys me.
And in case you aren't quite sure what Steveo meant by this, he has provided us some examples on his website:
"durin"
"AINT"
"PPL"
"WANNA"
" DOIN "
Of course, these are in addition to the quotes from above.
Most people who type like this anywhere type like this everywhere, and it makes you look like an idiot.
Well said Steveo, and I agree.
every person ten years or older in a developed country is given the knowledge of how to write coherently and properly.
Where did you say you were from Steveo? And your date of birth?
Writing like a ten year old on AOL only hurts your writing skills, and makes most people who read it look upon you as unintelligent and often ignore you. After seeing quite a few posts like this around the D2C forum I figured I had to say it.
Nothing against you, but I would greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure other forum members would too, if you took a little more time writing your posts and thinking about what you have to say. Better communication yields better results.
Once again Steveo, you have hit the nail on the head.
And the part that I think Dacar and the Board Admin would be most interested in:
The website that Zodijackyl posted contains advertisements and links to website that sell duping programs and duped items that you can purchase. Now I'm sure that we have all heard Steve brag about being legit and putting down those who dupe and use duped items, but who would believe him after seeing these things advertised on his own clan's website?
But more importantly, Steve posting that web address is in direct violation of the "Ten Commandments of the DiabloII.Net Forums." Namely commandments 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 5. I'm not sure, and I can't speak for the Admin, but it sure seems that duping and the like is not welcomed here. So I must ask this, Why did Steve post this website? And if he is half as legit as he claims to be, then why does his clan website advertise the things that it does? Perhaps his clan runs this site? I have no idea, but it sure is something to think about. I don't know about the other members, but I sure don't want someone involved in this sort of activity to be any part of this forum. In light (no pun intended) of this action, I am sure that Dacar and the other moderators will take appropriate action against Zodijackyl.
I believe Steveo said it best when he said:
[Websites] like this make me feel like I'm in an AOL chat room surrounded by pedophiles and kids eager to meet them.

The creator of that website speaks English as a third language and has no formal training in English.
That website was composed around 4AM after a night of drinking (the older one was significantly more humorous).
I am not a member of any GW guild.
Those ads are automatic from a free-hosted forum. The Brotherhood has no say in this.
People tend to be pissy like you when we PK them.
I hope that site and clan are some sort of joke.
We've got a bright one here!
We're the best LLPK team on east. We just like to rub it in :)
And don't make me start on your grammatical errors. Just tell me how to pronounce "Steveo", and whether or not if I am currently in violation of the trademark "Coolio" by you addressing me as this.
