Do you have to be a certain level for a SOJ to drop?

No, the monster has to be a certain level.
Example; Nothing in 'Normal Difficulty will ever drop SOJ'

I forgot the exact level the monster must be.

Level 39. Basically, anywhere from mid Act 1 NM and upwards.

There is one monster in normal difficulty that can drop a soj. That monster is Diablo. The funny thing is, NM Andariel cant. :xmas5:

does the character level affect the drops?

because some guy told me that a level 80 sorc will have better drops than my level 71 mf sorc (~320%mf) from hell andy..
then he killed andy few times and andy dropped a nice martel, great ring (str, dex, goldfind..), a goldskin...
and for me she only drops crappy items..

Myth. Your char will have the better drops if your MF is higher and you kill the same enemies. He was either lucky or just lying and showing you items he was already holding.

Also, Andariel yields a better drop with less MF. I generally just use a high tarn when I do Andy runs and it works well.

I found that out today, did some juv runs with sorc on the way to andy a few times and got 5 rares on three strait runs. When I was smacking him with 3xx mf I was getting jack. Good to know being geared over mf works better. ANDY YOU GOING DOWN!!!

This is also nice because you don't have to sacrifice FCR or mana. 70FCR is nice when you have to tele around the edge of the map to find the next level. It's nice to have 70FCR and 800 mana. All the MF gear allows for no res/block, which means you need to pump life to tank a simple hit.

I found my last SOJ with no MF off hell andy, doing runs with my 91 blizzer.

He might have had the Andy Glitch and you didn't. Do you know if you have the Andy Glitch?
