View Full Version : Sacrifice-based PvP

I was looking at Sacrifice, and it deals a quite nice amount of damage when paired up with Fanaticism and fully synergized. The best part is Fanaticism is one of the synergies. With Fortitude, Griefzerker/EBOTDz/Last Wish, 2x15/40 Crown of Ages, and a Pheonix Sheild a good amount of damage could be dished out. Do you think this is possible, or would the damage be too slow/low?

Just jotting down some ideas.

20 Sacrifice
20 Fanaticism
20 Redemption
20 Holy Sheild
20 Defience

Crown of Ages 30/80
Mara's
Fortitude Archon Plate
Last Wishzerker
Pheonix 45res Vortex Sheild
20 IAS Gloves
2x BK
War Travelers

Looks like nice damage if I throw in some Combat GCs, however Defence GCs might be better. Offense might be just as good...I'll have to do the math later.

Personally I don't think Sacrifice is viable in pvp because the speed is just too slow and I think that for every swing you have you lose life no matter if you hit or what. Plus in pvp leeching doesn't work well anyways so I think that you can still use Sacrifice for pvm.

With grief, if they held still long enough to get a good wack in you could probably take out the highest hp barbs in a few hits.

I have no school today due to snow (I'm a junior) so I think I'll play around on my Hero Editor. I did some calculations in my head for Last Wish and it came out to roughly 24k damage. I'll experiment.

I think that sacrifice doesn't hurt you when your fighting another player; I'm not sure but it would be easy to test. If it doesn't hurt you I dont see why it wouldn't be fun to use in pvp. If anyone writes a build for it I would call it a Medic er something having to do with being selfless.

Glad to see inovation isnt dead in D2 but I have some bad news for you. First the build has been done before and has not met with great sucess. Here is a link to a very comprehensive guide for a sacrafice paladin.

The damage is impressive but a large amount of life leech and damage reduction is needed to make this build viable. Really take the time and think about what 8% damage to self means. The truth is you are going to end up killing yourself before you kill you opponent. Lets say you do 8000 damage per swing well 8% of that is 640 damage to yourself. Now lets say you hit your opponent 5 times well thats 3200 damage to self. Owch thats gonna leave a mark. Its like impale for a zon, it sounds good on paper but not in practice.
