View Full Version : Fanat vs Conviction vs Concentration
How does max conviction stack up to maxed Fanat for Zealer or maxed concentration for hammerdin?
Zealer can max both fanat and conviction.
Anyone tried a max conviction hammerdin? In PVM with mostly sorc party this should work better than concentration.

I don't recommend maxing conviction for a hammerdin because then you won't get to your own max potential without the 20 points. As you see usually a hammerdin needs:
BH:max
HS:max
Vigor:max
Conc:max
BA:max
So if you max conviction in place of one of these skills you would:
1.Lose hammer damage if in place of Vigor or BA
2.Lose defense if in place of HS
3.Lose your basic damage source if in place of Conc
So although conviction helps party members, it is the auradins and avengers that should do the favor for party members and not the hammerdins. :xmas2: :xmas23:

conviction will not boost hammer damage
conviction will not boost zeal damage
zealot cant max fanaticism and conviction if he is built right
concentration is the best aura for hammerdin
fanaticism is the best aura for zealot
conviction is the best aura for avenger, dreamer

But conviction will lower resists and defense and this works with hammers and zeal
Conviction lowers fire, lightning, cold resistance and defense. Blessed hammer does magic damage, so no use here.
Unless you are an elemental zealot, you won't need the -%resists from conviction. The -% defense could be useful, but you can use fanaticism aura, which increase your chance to hit by enhancing your attack rating and, at the same taime, it gives you a huge enhanced damage.
I second this:
conviction will not boost hammer damage
conviction will not boost zeal damage
zealot cant max fanaticism and conviction if he is built right
concentration is the best aura for hammerdin
fanaticism is the best aura for zealot
conviction is the best aura for avenger, dreamer
If you want to help a team of mostly sorcs with your conviction aura, you should try an avenger or a templar instead of hammerdin/zealot.

1 point into conviction is more than enough to help sorcs/trappers.
You can use conviction in baal party, when there's another hammerdin using concentration.

Hammers are magic damage, which does not do more damage if the target has lower resists. And hammers are a spell, so defense is not an issue.

Adding to what everyone else said, Fanatacism and Conviction will not help the damage of Blessed Hammer. Only Concentration helps the damage of that skill.
Also, within the first few skill levels of Fanatacism and Concentration, Concentration will give the most ED%. However, after slvl 6 or so, Fanaticism's ED% will start winning the race for better damage. This is not to mention that Fanaticism also gives attack rating and increased attack speed.

Just going by what the skill planner says, slvl 2 of conc will give +75%ED (with +67%ED from Fanat). At slvl 6, both auras give the same +135%ED, and in later levels, Fanat comes out on top.
