Any hope for Werebear vs Barb?

Just wondering if its possible to beat a good barb with a werebear, or is whirlwind just to powerful?

My stats are as follows:

86 Fhr
3k Life (without BO)
2.4k Damage (grizwold's caddy)
15.7k AR (without enchant or angelics)
5fps Attack
75 All resists in hell
9.7k Defence
7fps Block rate
50% DR
75% block

Problem is whirlwind barbs just ww over me causing block or fhr, leaving little time for any attacks back, combined with leap and 'doom' makes it very tricky to combat. Sometimes i get lucky with a few hits, but usually Whirlwind slaughters me. Can really 'fury' shift like a wolf can. Any hope for the little werebears?

I say when you duel Ww Barbs, wait till they are done wwing, hit them good with shockwave so they are stunned (haha), and then maul and then go for kill heheheh :xmas7:

No they wouldnt. But maybe is next patch they will improve smiters! Something like cast life tap constantly when they are out of town, everyone stuned and knockbacked when they join game, chance to cast "izi" over their heads.. there is a much work for next patch smiters :xmas9:

Get alot of def. barb vs casters barbs are very common builds and I belive that is the kind of barb build you are dueling. Get a 2-3k def armor on. Get a difance merc going with a eth bugged (its not really a bugged armor just a cube resipe that blizzard didnt state in theyre website) fort armor. And what ever weapon you want it to have. I would say eth infinity, or eth pride.

The problem is that barb vs casters have is a low def and a low attack ratting then most other melee builds. This is because they are built to fight casters. To top it all off if your going to fight some one that feels they are superior to you most barb vs casters do feel that way. Run to a corner and shift duel them from there. That way you force them to fight you with out using ww. They could out range you since they mostly use range 3 weapons. Alot of these kinds of players are really new to the game. Hences forth wont know what to do when dueling vs that tatic.










dont tell any one but eth upped uni armors now get the right bonuses to they're def. perfect def eth upped jalals should now get 715.5 def. I own a eth upped toothrow with over 2k def on it RIGHT NOW.

its possible if the barb doesnt really know what he's doing, and even then its terribly hard (you have to play nearly flawless to stand a chance)

Cool, thanks everyone, i'll try the 'back against the wall tactics' xpumafangx and aim for more defence. The Shockwave trick sometimes works boss, pretty slow cast on a melee bear tho :(

Is 152 Fhr too much to aim for? help avoiding Leaps stun/smite stun.

Also one last question about weapons...is griswolds caddy my best bet, or should i use a robo phase for more speed or Botd Zerker for more range?

Griz caddy could work too, also...
Botd phaseblade was suggested in one of the Werebuilds by Zero-Unit
I think Grief (40ias) pb would work best too, dunno the speed bp for bears though...
I would choose phase blade for speed over the slow zerker though... :/

I say get 5 shape gcs wit fhr and the 4 shape gcs are life(or vita)
152 is not too much if you dont suffer too much to lose all other bonuses from the gears, then go for it

From experience, a bear has minimal chance of taking down a baba due to the workings of WW.

You can't chase them or you'll get hit by ww-aways.

You can't stand there and use shift cause they can triangle ww you.

But you can corner shift them because the only way to ww that is to out range and ww on they're out skirts. And not alot of barbs see a melee duelest do that.

Yeah, cornering with a really good bear is your only chance against a barb, and still not much. Use puddles, walls, trees, etc. to stop a whirl when you can, and score a few hits. Good luck.

Pretty much expect someone with a barb in a dueling game to be decent to good. You rarely see idiots make ww babas since they are so hard to master. You'll see idiots using trapper or hammerdins more.

Yes, that was the Weretemplar. 60% ias in a phase gives a bear-pally their fastest attack, which I do believe is 4 frames.


Of course, a ethereal rare crystal sword/dimensional blade upped to phase with cruel/grandmasters/fools/quickness mods would be absolutely sick. One shael in that puppy to get 60 ias and you have a approximately 250'ish average damage weapon, possibly as high as 300 I think... but something like that would cost you an arm, a leg, your firstborn child, your second cousin thrice removed, that small pile of dirt in your back pocket you can never seem to get rid of...
