View Full Version : Fine-tuning a Druid

Not sure what to do with a Druid... I've seen arguments for Werewolves, for Werebears, for Elementals, for Summoners...

Trouble is, I don't really know what I want to do.

Right now, I have a Druid with 1 in Werewolf, 4 in Lycan, 3 in WBear, 1 in Maul (haven't used it yet); 2 in Poison Creeper, 2 in Carrion vine, 1 in Oak Sage (I use OS and CV, but I miss the PC mopping up the minor monsters); I put 1 in firestorm, just to see what it would do, but I'm not so sure I want to be an elementalist...

A WBear in Act One seems like using a baseball bat to smack gnats. Blows are powerful - when they land. I usually have a 95% AR, but I still have a hard time hitting.

But I've heard about not splitting points between WWolf and WBear.

I like the "smackdown" ability of the WBear, I like going into battle and taking on the monsters myself. I'm not into using the summoned animals.

So... Wolf? Bear? What Merc goes best with my style of Bear use? I pair axe or maul/mace with Bear. I let my Bear's defence aid armor rather than worrying too much about shields right now.

Any suggestions or ideas for improvement? Note, this is just SP, not Ladder or PvP.

Thanks!

PS - Anyone noticing my questions regarding playing various chars and wondering what I'm up to... my goal is to get one of each char class through all three difficulty lvls in the game :xmas23:

It seems like your druid is a handy-type that can do everything and but not the best of it as you already put point into pretty much everything so i suggest to play around with those point and see what you like best.

To make a strong druid build, you should be narrowing your skills and use their synergy if possible.

You can consult the character guides in the stickies for more detail on a particular build.

A few popular druid build that do pretty good in all diff lvl:

- Elemental Wind druid : Hurri/Tornado
- Melee Fury / Rabies
etc

I'm starting to warm up to my fuzzy-butt WBear...

Still, I have a 95% AR with most monsters - but I swear most of my hits don't make it. Why is that? I'm also very slow. I use weapons with "fast" or "very fast," but it still seems like my bear's stuck in molasses.

Thanks!

Your best bet for a fast weapon early on is the The Horadric Staff found in act2, or
'Bane Ash' unique Short Staff
or
'Blood Crescent' unique Scimitar
or
'Doomslinger' unique Repeating Crossbow
or
'Rogue's Bow' Composite Bow

All are very fast on a werebear and should be easy to come by. As for your '% chance to hit' it might be that your getting hit and therefore interupted before you can hit back, making it look like your hitting alot less. Just my 2 cents worth,

Best of luck
