I currently have a normal A2 defensive merc. I have the option of getting a nightmare A2 merc. Both mercs are about the same lvl. Is it best to go with the nightmare merc or stick with what I've got? Of course I'd give the nightmare merc all the items from the normal merc. :xmas29:

What character do you have (not just char, say what build) ?
I'd go for act 2 nm merc anytime, but there are some builds that might be better with other merc.
The fact that you can hire a merc close to your own lv, makes switching easy.

The decision of wether of not to switch act 2 mercs depends on what character build you are going to be playing into endgame.

I believe my character is lvl 38 and my merc is at 37. My character is a Paladin based on FOH/Redemption/Conviction. He also has a few points in Zeal.

Holy freeze? FoH doesn't exactly hit the most targets (unless they are undead). Or you can get a might merc for more damage for immunes later.

Anime, what do you mean: "FoH doesn't exactly hit the most targets". IIRC, FoH is lightning damage and hits everything, and hurts everything but lightning immunes.

The lightning hits 1 target at a time. The bolts sent out are holy bolts. Unless Arreat summit is wrong, that is (which is very possible).

Edit:Just tested it with -act5 command on SP, and it looks like I am right.

Oh yeah. The lightning will hit as I mentioned above, but Holy Bolts will only damage the undead.
