Yep, I'm gonna try to set another one up.

NOTE: I AM NOT THE ORIGINATOR OF THIS IDEA, SO DON'T START CALLING ME A GENIUS OR ANYTHING. THE CREDITS FOR THIS IDEA GO TO SHADOWCRAWLER, AND ITS SUCCESS IS THANKS TO HIS ULTIMATE QUEST PARTY.

(You don't have to be an avid player, just as long as you like the rules.)

I am looking for seven fairly experienced players who can play on US East some nights at TBD times.

The rules are as follows:

The gameplay style will be untwinked starting from level one. This may seem weak, but before we begin the character builds should be discussed and chosen to complement one another, e.g. Paladin auras with Necro minions. If we take it slow and work together, I think we will be amazed at what is possible.

Create a themed character which you can roleplay. Your skills, in-game conversation, and general appearance should follow a theme. Are you a dark knight who favors vengeance and conviction or zealotry and fanaticism? A rabid werewolf who heralds the coming fiery armageddon? An iron barb who fears nothing? An enchantress who can hold the front lines? A good-natured cleric? A ferocious claw/claw assassin? A cunning trapper?

Do not create players yet. Just think about possible roles, and then we'll discuss who will take on which jobs before any characters are created. Remember that character ideas which would be utter roadkill on their own might excel in party play. Also, choice of mercenaries will be important. This will take planning. Finally, char names will have a common prefix for the group TUQ.

No twinking, item or exp running, or gold muling will be allowed, PERIOD. These characters are only supposed to be played in a group at the specified time period. The idea is to play the game as it was meant to be played. The group should work together to MF, buy/share/trade items, and help level stragglers.

Trading outside the group is expressly disallowed. Unfortunately, running is the order of the day on B.net, so their economy is far too inflated with items, putting it squarely at odds with these rules. No outside gold or items should be brought in, and no member of the group should be rushed outside of party play.

MF can be done, but not as item runs. We should MF only by equipping MF items that we find or create (e.g. ptopaz armor, chance guards) and playing through the game normally. Note that since we are working together, it should be possible to load up some characters in the rear ranks with more MF gear.

Gold and items will generally belong to the group. We should play with the understanding that items which are particularly needed by or are useful to one character should be given to that character. I want honest, mature players who can tough things out if need be. No whining, and though I would hate to have to step in and lay the law down, my decisions will be final.

We will work through all areas of the game, getting all waypoints, completing all quests, and exploring all subareas. The point is one of pride: to show that we can work equally well in all areas of the game. Only those locations with horribly-bugged monsters (e.g. gloams and poison serpents) and seriously-pumped bosses (e.g. uber diablo) should pose any real trouble.

Don't rush it - this is partly a social thing. We should meet each session to plan things out so that we can act as a group. Sure, some people will need to be in town shopping, cubing, or whatever as the need arises - but the general idea should be group play. However, remember that a group is not a bunch of loners who run off willy-nilly after ten seconds of waiting.

Take periodic screenshots and jot down a few quick notes. This is a perfect opportunity to gather some stuff together for a DiabloII.Net article series. It does not have to be anything fancy - just some notes, screenshots, quick comments, and pertinent observations to wet the appetites of our fellow players. Maybe people might even begin using roleplaying games to roleplay! (Note: This is different from the original rules in that I am not planning for us to do an article unless DiabloII.Net asks us to.)

These rules were created because I want to see what we can do on our own skill with the game as it was originally meant to be played (at some point). Can we beat Hell? Can we take on the new 1.10/1.11 bosses? Can we kill the uber Prime Evils in Tristram? Maybe, maybe not, but wouldn't it be fun to find out?

Good role-playing and coordinated, cooperative gameplay is a myth now-a-days, I would love it if we could all get together and just have some fun!

Who qualifies? Will we have tons of applicants? Sorry, but only seven fit this description. We did exactly this - If there are more you are more than welcome to form your own group along similar lines.
As far as who gets in this group, well, I'm just going to wing it. Sorry if you do not get accepted - it's nothing personal.

Hey all! Captain Bob Dole of the West Side Bastards reporting in! I, so far, have found this project to be a blast. You need eight dependable people (seven counting yourself) - without the player participation, nothing else can happen. In addition, one thing I have discovered is that people don't become interested enough to post and enter until they realize you are serious roleplayers and strategizers. Before we began talk of our character builds and backgrounds, all we got were "maybes" and "if I have the time"s. Now, though, we have a steady core group all in the lvl-35-range about to take on Baal! If I weren't already leading a TUQ I'd join this one!

Thank you for the input. I have been checking your thread and noticed that it was a little shaky in the beginning, almost to the point of the group being disbanded! :eek:

The Europe group doesn't look like it's going anywhere, but we'll see. I hope to learn from your mistakes (let's face it, we'll never get a turnout like the first group did) when starting out.

I would strongly suggest that anybody who is considering this check out either the original USEastTUQ or the USWestTUQ to get an idea of how things are supposed to go. And to see how much fun this can be! :thumbsup:

Everybody please keep in mind when you choose your character types that this will be an untwinked party. NO outside items will be brought in. NO MF runs will be done until the party agrees that it will be absolutely necessary to reach our goals. This means that a character that cannot do well without ideal equipment is not meant for this group. Solo characters are also not ideal. This is a group effort!

DX, you told me tonight that you planned to be either a pally or a druid. Can you please specify what type of pally or druid you wanted to be? If we can get a starting point with this it will be easier for people to sign up with what they want. I would hate to have to ask somebody to think about changing their setup once we get rolling.

I was planning on doing a tank/frenzy barb/bo/other warcries. Somebody please let me know if they would like to do this or if they have any input about this at all.

Speaking of getting rolling, I was planning on having a get together tomorrow in our temporary channel TUQ CHAT. I will be on around 5 PM EST so just come on in. I'd like to get a live discussion going, or at least a way for people to ask questions. :)

I would definitely like to start playing soon; I don't want to wait TOO long. Maybe next week? Fridays - Saturdays are good days for me. Give me some feedback on this. I am confident that we will be able to catch people up, but don't wait too long or it may be too late. :(

Weekdays are good for me, just know that I may not be as reliable, especially when school starts back up in January. I will go for Wednesday, since that seems to always be a good day (No surprises!). Let me know what you think.

We will also need to decide whether we want to play on Ladder or Non-Ladder. Playing Ladder will give us access to some of those extra Runewords (if we can afford them :D ), but I'm not sure what the other differences are.

Whatever we choose, I will make sure that everyone in the group knows about it so that we can all be on the same page (and in the same game!) :thumbsup:

Been waiting for someone to start one of these up again. I have a good feel for the game, been playing for years... but I am by no means an expert.

Now, as for role playing... Played D&D as a youngster, and have been playing "Role Playing Scenario Paintball" for quite a few years (not on-line of course - real time Scenario with real people). I think my lack of experiance in the correct course of a LOD Character could be quite humorous to the group. ( of course I'm not a complete newbie ). Would probably not decide on a particular path until gear or party decides.

All my accounts are on US West, being in CO it seemed the way to go. I have started a US East in the hopes of joining, but I need the group input... would like to chat if possible. Been thinking of this avenue of playing for some time, I'm sure I can put the time in when needed. Guess it depends on the time diff-

For my ease, would prefer a male character, Pally first, Barb 2nd, Druid, then Necro... but will go with what the group wants/prefers. Keep me in mind!

Looks good so far. If I were you (and this is ME talking), I'd go with a necro, as the summons will be great tanks as well. Would work well with our Pally's auras, and be great allies to me on the front lines!

But really it's whatever you want at this point. Being as we have only three members now, so there's a lot of ways we can go! :thumbsup:

O.k. 1st Update on things...

We currently have FOUR heroes who will soon be embarking on an Ultimate Quest! We are still looking for some heroes to step up to the challenge and join our adventure! As of the time of this post, we are still in need of at least FOUR more heroes who have the kind of commitment and enthusiasm we are looking for!

Great start on getting our schedules set up and being flexible! Secondly, we've decided that by making this a ladder quest as we'll have access to some extra RuneWords! All the help we can get! :D

Finally, we have a game set up! Don't worry, we aren't starting officially! It will be a Non-Ladder Game on USEast. I will create it in normal difficulty, so it will be available to everybody. This will just be a time for us to discuss our character decisions and to hopefully recruit some new heroes! If you will be in the area of USEast on the 21st (this upcoming Wednesday), starting at around 10:00 PM Eastern (8:00 PM Flip-time), show up with whatever character you want and sign up for our Quest! We will be glad to have you! We hope to start NEXT Wednesday, which is the 28th. Let us know if this is not schedule-friendly for you. We are very flexible!

Even if you WANT to join but cannot right now (due to not having the game, a computer, etc.), don't dispair! Even once we start it shouldn't be hard at all to catch you up. I'd say that the last chance to join in would be once we reach NightMare difficulty. After we start Act 1 in NM, I'm afraid we'll have to close the Quest for existing members only!

Even if we do get a full party set up, we would appreciate a few extra heroes as "backups". You can help our slackers catch up and if you are on par with the rest of the group, you can suit up in case somebody can't make that game or drops out of the quest for good (which I hope never has to happen).

I am very excited about our progress! I'm ready to get into it and start playing and having fun. I was getting excited just planning and chatting with Snail and Flip!

After a bit of thought, I figure I'm more of a melee type player. Guess I'm leaning towards a Druid... probably wait to see if any specific gear shows up during play before I decide which tree to follow. Lean towards the Wolf as opposed to Bear, but doesn't really matter. Course all open to group discussion. The Necro is a bit too stand-off for my group style of play.

Course if DXbuerger is going Windy - no prob.

I can play about any role, being un-twinked it should be fun all around!

Toyed a bit with both Melee style Druids, have a wolf around 70 and a Bear to 35 or so... still play them a bit but never went elemental. Again I figure an un-twinked character has to go with the flow to start, this game can be a bit gear intensive to have your heart set on a specific path. Early on just kill as best you can :p

well I would be wanting to join, if I can get on,

I would be melee/ranged echantress, with basic fire enchant + lightning as backup. First melee, to boost up the hard places, and when "tanks" "minions" will get higher I will get me bow, to help you guys/ladys.

I "really" dont have so much "friends" in here so it would be fantastic to have some good friends, and knowing more people, and I think the role-playing in diablo would be good.

Wow this sounds like a really cool idea! If theres any places left id love to sign up. I can play pretty much any char (perferbly melee) u need me to but im defently best with barbs. As for experence ive been playing for around three years online. The only problem is that i wont be able to play untill after christmas (My hardrive crashed and I need a new one.) And the only time I can play is on weekends because of school and such. Though I can play all week after christmas hopefully.

Well, things kinda moved a little too fast and we got into playing a bit. We had Me (DeathWish), Flip (Paeleo), Salt (Blizz?), and DX (Avenger). In that order there was a Necromancer, a Druid, a Sorceress, and a Paladin.

We got through the Den of Evil, cleared the Blood Moor, got the Cold Plains Waypoint, and cleared the Caves Level 1 and 2. Then we proceeded to defeat Blood Raven.

We moved a little TOO fast, guys. I know it will take a little while to get used to things. I don't want to have to tell people to wait for others; that should be automatic. Take a little more time in town; some of our players, including me, are used to being in town and having a lot of time to shop. Trust me, we will have to! We can't live off of our drops!

I also saw a lot of things that got sold to Akara that I personally could've used! If you pick something up, drop it in town. I put all of my drops next to the big campfire. We can sell it later, when our ground fills up or at the end of the game. This way when somebody sees something they need, they just pick it up and we ultimately spend less time in town!

Another thing...Stay Together! I know we can get away with it now, but later on we'll need to be close by our buddies if we want to survive. Let the tanks tank, let the Sorc cast, let the Necro's minions do their work!

Also realize that you need to communicate with me, as I am the one organizing all of this. If you have a question, complaint, advice, suggestion, something to get rid of, something you want, POST IT HERE! That's what this thread is for!

Slow down a little! If somebody is straggling behind, wait up. Let them get in on the action and the fun!

Enough complaining! We did pretty good despite all of that. We ended up giving me the Topazes, since I'm in the back and will be taking less hits. I put them to good use in a 2-Socketed cap I had been saving for MF purposes. It definitely showed when Blood Raven dropped 3 RARES! That's a real find in games like this. I got a Rare Head, and I'm putting it to good use!

My minions are helping Ave the Paladin take out the baddies, Paeleo is also doing good with his melee Druid. Our Blizz Sorc was flinging ice bolts and frost novas like it was cool. A couple of Corpse Explosions did some messy destruction!

All in all it was a good game! We need to fix those things, but eventually we'll be so powerful we'll smack those Ubers around with no effort!

We know you won't be there (Avenger) next Wednesday, at 10:00 PM Eastern, 9:00 in Chicago (for our Sorc), 8:00 for Paeleo the Druid. We'll catch you up when you get back, along with anybody else who joins up! We've moved to passworded games, to keep out bots, PK'ers, crazy unwanted people, etc., so just show up in our Channel TUQ CHAT if you want to join in on the fun!

Dabomb and Dammitbill, it's not too late! We understand that you might not have been able to make it, and that's okay. It would be great if you can let us know if you can't make it in the future, so we can prepare. I also understand that you can't always let us know, and that is okay too. Just give us a heads up if you can!

Anybody else, there is still time! However, we will not be accepting members after we venture into Nightmare, so hurry!

Sorry I was a bit late!

Things did move a bit fast, I think we probably left quite a few items on the ground that might have been helpful. I tried to grab and check out what I could but ended up being left behind too much. :xmas9: Since we are un-twinked and should end up with a large group we might want to keep a better eye out.

Made level 7 quite fast, just made the decision on what way to go tonight. Going Wolf, Feral Rage/Furry, and figured Oak would be the best party helper. Probably lay off the summons until later on since we already got our Necro.

Not sure if the others will be stopping in to post, but I have 3 chippy Dia and 1 chippy Amy for the group. I also kept a 3 soc short bow we can chip up to boost damage. I know we don't have a zon yet, but if nothing else it could be used on one of our merc-rouges. Have to wait for gems but since we won't have the cube for quite a while we might as well use them to our benefit.

I haven't picked up my Rouge merc yet, not sure if we need that many mercs? What are your thoughts?

On a side note, was wondering if we could set up another game session? Once a week just isn't enough for me :xmas30: I know we don't want to leave anyone behind but thought I'd throw it out there!

Hope this is/was within the rules, I started a "parking" game tonight to perm Paeleo... I'm too nervous about the "Character Expires in 10 days" thing. All I've done is spend my points where needed, and purchased a weapon with some added damage. I still have 1914 in gold if anyone needs cash.

I did NOT play, gain exp, gain any other items, or any of that :xmas1: Just opened up a mule-park game for others and hung out. I couldn't wait till Wednesday, didn't want to have to start a new Char if I somehow missed the game or do to things out of my control I couldn't get on B-Net.

I don't see any problem with "perming" your Druid as longs as you didn't get anything "twinked". The way things like this will be handled is that you can play your character, but I'd prefer that you do it only if you need to catch up with the rest of our group. For example, if nobody can show up to help you quest, then it's perfectly fine to do it solo. Put a password on the game, and if somebody does come on, you can tell them the password and the name of the game you're in. This prevents any problems like people showing up to bug you or give you powerful but VERY tempting and UNAUTHORIZED items. :D

I don't see a problem with everybody having a merc at this point. Eventually, when we have more of a selection, we'll want to choose different merc for some different benefits. I understand the popularity of the Act 2 Spearmen, and this can be used to our advantage when we can have eight extra auras, thus adding to our POWER! :thumbsup:

Going for another session is not a problem with me, IF we can fix all the "problems" we had with the last session. Also, I'd like to hear from "dammitbill" and "dasbomb". You guys said you were down for it, but never showed up! It was kind of disappointing because I had hoped you would show up, but not a big deal. We are still VERY early in the quest (just killed Blood Raven), so post on here or show up and we'll catch you up, no problem!

Sorry i wasnt there but like i said i cant play untill after i get my new hardrive.
I SHOULD be able to play after the 26th but somthing could very easly come up and prolong that. If too much crap comes up and im not able to play before too long ill just have to forget the whole thing as i really dont want to slow down the whole group. Well, I'm pretty proud of myself...

I was just messing around in one of the USEast chat channels, and lo and behold, I recruited another member!

He is Tuq-Genocide, and he's going for a Zealot Paladin. I caught him up today. He cleared the Den of Evil, no problem. Blood Raven was a pushover. All who opposed him fell swiftly to his mighty swing! He is now level 6, 1 level under the rest of us! Well, except for me!

Well, I'm excited. He promised that he would read the rules and post on the thread, so we should hear from him very soon!

We collected a LOT of emeralds, and they will be put to good use during our fight with Andarial! I also saved up a lot of Superior equipment, and it will be passed out in our next game. I also have a Grand Charm with +5 to Mana for you, Blizz!

Our new recruit also found some more small charms, and he socketed a sword with a chipped emerald and a chipped topaz. But he later found a good mace, and we are keeping the sword for you, Ave! That is, if you want it!

We're on a roll! Let's keep this moving and let's kill those Ubers, already!

That figures... I was on most of yesterday but was at "home" on US West OOPS! I ceratinly would have jumped in to play had I known.

I would like to get another time slot open to play, but it doesn't have to be right now, with the holidays and all I'm sure people are busy.

I don't beleive I will ever have to solo to catch up, I should be able to stay close to the group unless something unforseen comes up.

As to my perm game, I started an open "park" game, ran Paeleo to a back corner of the camp and mimimized the game. I don't beleive anyone tried to trade with me but since I wasn't even watching the game (why watch myself stand around ;) ) there was no temptation. I came back to the game, slapped a few points down, purchased a sword (the one I had been using was Eth and not very good) and left.

I could use some better gear if you hung on to some, I think my shield is Eth too, plus the armor isn't the anything special... not even sure if I got boots/gloves. I do have a low 2-socket cap, probably wouldn't waist anything into the sockets unless we had plenty to work with.

Good Going on recruiting another player! We can use the help for sure.

I figure it's a great idea to post here if anyone is going to be playing, if nothing else we can jump into chat and stratagize a bit.

Hey Greex, no problem with you joining, but we already have a Cold Sorceress. I think two would just be a waste of a good player, so I hope you can come up with something else. If you can do that, you're in!

People seem to be shying away from Assassins, but I think that a few traps wouldn't hurt a bit! Also, we could use an Amazon. I hear that a Poison Javazon can do some BIG damage! And, since we have one of each of the other two branches, a Lightning Sorceress would be a good choice as well.

I haven't heard from a few of you in a while. Post up and help Greex choose a build! Also, give me your opinion about having a game on the 26th, which is tomorrow!

Give an idea for a game-time, a date, discuss party strategy, talk about how much fun you're having...I don't care! Let me know that you're still ALIVE please!

I don't really think there's gonna be a game today. I don't see a lot of people posting replies, so they either forgot about us and don't love us anymore and have found better ways to spend their time and hate our guts and hope we didn't have a merry Christmas and think that we're all poopy-heads, OR they have just been enjoying their holidays.

I do hope that once things on the Christmas end settle down we can all get back together and play!

I'm going for Wednesday again, but if nobody responds then we'll just have to figure something out.

Might i suggest that you guys get a progress check going in your posts? We end all our posts with a format like I'll end mine. Also, don't be afraid to tune down the frequency of your games... it might seem like you can't get enough right now, but you'll wear yourself out at that pace.

I've been playing with an assassin - which is probably what I'd like to build for this - specifically a trappasin... but of course, if you've got all your players it doesn't really matter. :)

Not the best player in the world but have been playing DII for a few years (the whole house plays *g*) so I shouldn't drag anybody down.

That's a good idea. I tried to get that set up...believe it or not...but I don't think anybody is catching on. Not a problem, I don't want to force it onto you guys. Do it now if you want, but be advised that it might be necessary if everybody gets all DISCOMBOBBLED! :cheesy: I don't think that we're moving too fast at all...or maybe I'm just impatient and eager to play. -3.- Please understand that this is my MAIN form of communication with EVERYBODY. I feel that it is a good way for EVERYONE to be heard and it is the closest thing we have to a LIVE DISCUSSION! Please check in here as often as you feel necessary to hear about updates. If you have an idea for another form of communicating, let me know. This thread and my ears are based upon an OPEN-DOOR policy!

Overall, we did a good job. We were better at staying together, sharing items, and getting people on to play!

Paeleo's status report:

Met the group of so called Champions in the rougue camp for the second time tonight... mixed group again. I seem to remember a few but the changes in me are taking thier toll. I have gained the ability to morph into my animal form of the wolf, and the wolf has taken over. From the vauge memories I have I think I ran the crew tonight at least in the killing. Fine thing was all seemed to follow and I was never in a bad way, never needed to crawl away to heal.

I know there has been a summoner of the dead with me, being of the woods and knowing of death his undead creatures disturb me a bit. I know he and his minions are with me so I bear it.

There has also been a female of power I do not understand, she calls cold from the heavens and does not gain power like I do from the earth. Her heart in battle is like no other, she expends her cold and then dispatches of our enemys hand to hand. I fear for her but she seems undaunted, a fine warrior.

Tonight a new champion joined our little group. Another Female that I did not prefer but it is not my place to say. At first sight I knew there was something different, like the magic weilder, this one was different. From the banter, I deduced the one with death on his side had dealt with this newcomer... and things seemed to be... well I needed to see.
As we went through the lands of death my reservations were quelled. Though the new Female had an entirely new fighting system I have never seen, she was a true warrior. Two fisted fighting and throwing out a new form of magic...

I Know I am in the company of my betters.

There was also a Paladin that added to our ranks late in the day. I know of these holy warriors and thier abilities. I hope he continues to bless our efforts.

As to those who helped me to advance in the eyes of Nature, I thank you from my heart. Our first meeting is too much a blur, the wolf was taking me and I have no memory. I hope you join our ranks soon because I know our cause is just and we will prevail.

Sorry guys, been having some computer and internet issues.

Good job on the status reports and GREAT JOB on the story, Paeleo! I loved it. Feel free to post stuff like that anytime you want. I enjoyed it and it inspired me to do something like that every now and then.

I won't be checking the thread as frequently as I was before my ISSUES, so just be aware of that. I'd like to ask everybody NOW when would be a good time for our next game. My situation might require some flexibility, so I appreciate in advance the fact that everybody is so good in that respect.

I hope we can get Healer caught up, and I also want to thank you guys for being able to handle that in my absence (not that I ever doubted your ability to do so).

We expect Avenger to be back this week. That will add another melee character to our party to help Paeleo.

I only played in 1.11, USEast Ladder, but I already made "godly", high-lvl, rich zealot, WW barbarian, smiter, light sorc, meteorb sorc, blizz sorc, LF zon, hammerdin.

However, I got scammed on big part of my "wealth", so I wanna take a break from all this "twinkled" stuff, hi lvl trades, scams, baals, etc. I was about to quit, but popab recommended me to go here :)

I'd like to play with you fellas, I wanna start a new lvl1 char. BUT. I wanna play a build I never played before: any sort of assasin, any druid, any necro (I like the summoner necro), bowazon, enchantess sorc, non-smiter, non-hammer, and non-zeal paladin, etc.

I doubt I will be able to play much during the week, but we will see. Maybe I'll just play few hours on weekend(s).

So, take me into your society, and suggest me a fun low-mid lvl build! So far I was thinking to make a summoner necro, but that's just because I don't know any builds other than ones I made godly (see above).

Tell us when a good time for you to play is, so we can set up a catch-up game for you. I will be on for only a little bit playing my FIRST hardcore character (well...second but the first died last night at level 3...haha), so let me know what is good for you!

All you PROCRASTINATORS can still join us, but you will probably be on a BACKUP team. This means that you can play with us if we have spots open, but if we don't it will be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make sure you're caught up. Of course I don't have any problem with helping you, and I don't think anybody else will either.

Hehe me too. Something came up LAST MINUTE and I wasn't even on!

Oh well. Maybe this weekend would be a good time to play? I need input from you guys. I actually would like to have everybody post the times they can play throughout the week so that we can find a time frame when MOST people will be available.

My time has been limited a bit. I started the thread up during my Christmas Break, when all I had to worry about was going to work from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. School for me just started up Tuesday, and pretty soon I will be taking a night class at our local college. The night class will be on Tuesdays, I think.

Also, next Wednesday is the day my father comes home for two weeks on leave. He's been in Iraq since...sheesh I don't even remember at the moment...and he won't come home for GOOD until May. There will be limited playing time during those two weeks.

I am good just about all night Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday and Sunday mornings are also good for me. I will be able to play on weeknights, but it won't be for very long and it will have to be early. I get home at about 5:00 PM, so sometime after that is good, but not past 11:00 PM. That will also depend on my homework load and other things. The nights of my college classes are OUT OF THE QUESTION!

Please post the times that are good for you guys to play.
