View Full Version : Golem help
I was wondering if maxed fire golem would be just as good as an iron golem made from decent items. Is it worth maxing it? Or should I go for iron?

Go with 1 point in clay, unless you REALLY don't want to be like everyone else. Golems were never meant to kill to start with.

Maxed Fire golem really doesn't deal good damage. To give you an idea:
level 20: 401-449
mana cost 240
level 50: 1405-1483
mana cost 540
That may sound somewhat decent, but the attack rate is slow, and it's only one minion that the holy fire attracts everything around it to, and with only 11143 life at 50/50 (hell), though it'd be tough getting that high, that's not a good thing (I say only because clay golem has 11440 life at 21/21 (hell) ).

One point in Clay, one point in Golem Mastery, one point in iron to get to revive. Only make an Iron Golem out of something that you don't care about. It could just disappear anytime. Clay slows by 50%, combined with decreptify it will freeze bosses in their tracks. Especially effective on Baal.

Also, Clay Golem has a very high target priority --- so it's very effective to attract monsters. I always used it when stuff was coming after me, or when a bunch of archers that weren't easily reachable was attacking my skellies. Or when things spread out too far, causing a mage or two to stand alone vs. some attacker: they can tank for a while, but it's always safer to let the golem do the tanking...
