I'm new to making bowazons. Is strafe better than multi? Should i max it? Should i also max guided for pvm?

There's a whole debate on Strafe vs. Multi. It all boils down to personal preference really. Multi is not worth maxing. At the higher levels, you don't get more than 24 arrows, but the mana cost still increases. Guided is also not worth maxing since it no longer pierces.

In my opinion, multi is easier to get to a useful level since you have access to it earlier. Strafe is harder to get to a useful level since the first several levels of strafe are pretty useless.

Certain mods like crushing blow will only apply to the center 2 arrows of a multishot volley, but all mods apply to all arrows on strafe.

Strafe will target creatures slightly off the visible screen. With multi, you can hit creatures much further off screen.

Many more people go the multi route than the strafe one, but I happen to like strafe better... It's my own personal preference.

Hope that helps you decide a bit.. :)

With high-end bows (Faith, BOTD, Windforce) and high dex it's better to use multi because it actually does a lot more damage than strafe (numbers tell nothing) and has huge area of effect.

Strafe is more like for low-end bows (like M'avina set, Lycanders,...) and single targets (or small packs of monsters). At least that's how I use strafe.

Anyways I like multi a whole lot more because it's easier to aim and much more useful in open terrain.

Depending on gear you use you may want to max strafe and have about 12pts into multi. Guided is pvp skill which has no use in pvm, because monsters don't have the AI to avoid arrows so theres no need for a guided arrow.

You're forgetting one important advantage of strafe guys

It appeals to the very lazy d2 player who doesn't want to move his mouse around when he is aiming, like myself

Lol True.

Also, places that are really tight packed such as the maggot lair, Durance (with all the walls), and other areas it is hard to use multi because you wont be able to hit much.
