Yes... that's right. I can D Key run with my Fishymancer now, thanks to the wonders of this (http://img236.imageshack.us/my.php?image=holyvampirebeeotches9cl.jpg) little itty bitty thingy. :]
I found the Seraph Rod in my third Torch run (yielded an 11/20 Necro), and I figured "Why not? I'll make a 'Lawbringer' out of it!" It originally had 0 sockets, so my friend rushed my socket character, and we punched 3 holes into the thing. Then I rolled the perfect Sanctuary aura on it as I finished putting Ko into the last slot. XD
I already knew this, but never thought of applying it to a Necro until now, so here's how it goes for you uneducated. The "Slain Monsters Rest in Peace" modifier works in conjunction with both physical and elemental damage. And since Corpse Explosion divides its damage into 50% physical and 50% fire... you get the idea. ;3
Just a little something I had to post. I haven't gotten a D Key yet, but I've only died once so far running Nilathak, and so far it's pretty damn safe. ^^;;
I'm confused...
I thought the 'slain monsters rest in peace' was exactly what a CE Summoner didn't need ?!?!
No corpses to raise and no CE. I don't get it.

Slain monsters rest in peace doesnt work on the skeletons. Everything they kill, can be revived, summmoned or corpse ecplosioned

But since YOU are spamming CE...... This causes the things you CE to be non-CE able. In otherwords, Nilk doesn't have a chance to CE at all. That solves quite a few things. The usual problem I have is that he will CE my merc to death, especially after me wearing Trangs...... I think I should try that, if my IK barb can't run him very easily.

I have a Nature's Peace ring I'll try it tonight and see.
I am confused too -- RIP is the most iritating mod for a skellymancer -- either i want the bodies for skels or if i am spamming CE, the more the better.
I never wear a RIP mod on my skell mancer -- and nihlathak is very easy. I dont bother bringing a merc since he gets killed. My skellys get a kill or 2 and the rest is done with CE in about 10 seconds. I would hate to see bodies laying about from RIP. It would take me forever to check and re-check them with CE before I would be able to move forward. It would be be way to confusing as to what was RIP or explodable for me.
Now if i was a melee or sorc and i didnt have a natures peace, then yes that would be very handy for Nihl runs

Ok I tried some runs last night using Natures Peace. At first I had problems with my skellies killing to many things. That probably wouldn't matter with Enigma. After I started to get a feel for it, it works surprisingly well. I would put the ring on at the begining of he hall leading to Nith's room. It is a little unnerving seeing all the ice demons on the ground but Nith can't spam off a bunch of CEs and do in you or your merc. Oh and I found a key.

'Un-nerving' LOL understatement when you are going after Nihlathak. I really prefer seeing a nice big bloody puddle with chunks all over the place -- feel much more comfortable slipping and sliding thru all the muck

That's the whole idea I was going for. Use your own CE to trigger SMRIP and deny Nilathak use of the corpses. It's pretty effective, despite my one death to a corpse I'd missed. ><
Oh and I found a key.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... XD
I didn't get a key, but I did find an SC that I rolled into a 281 poison damage over 9 seconds one. XP
Cassurai has it now. :3

Cyber Dragon, like all things keys come when you aren't looking.
I am going to try it with my novamancer. I could sneak in nova, sneak in nova then go after Nith. I may be mistaken but it seems like Nith can only CE the things he raises himself (the ice demons) not the other random monsters.
I found it is more of a problem with N Peace if there are vipers in the room with Nith as they can gut my skellies and I haven't been going in with revives. Cyber Dragon How many skellies are you using and are you using revives?

I was testing this on single player a bit.
For those crazy snakes... ridiculous skeleton-shredding buggers that they are, Dim Vision does a boatload. Then they can't use their Andariel-like poison-poof-thing, and stop spamming Bone Spear. Skeletons get in close, decrepify/amplify damage and boom, they're dead.
Strategy for approaching Nihlathak? Have 20 in corpse explosion, easy does it when you're approaching. Keep his minions at the edge of your screen so you're far away enough not to get blasted by his 5-yard level 8 CE (according to d2data.net). Something drops, start spamming CE until everything else drops and you can't spam no-mo. By that time, your army will have moved in to crucify the guy.
I think. Need more experience!

The bigger the CE, the more trouble it will cause you...... If you fall 20 bodies, he can at least blow 2~3 up before you are done.

Explain how he blew up a Returned Archer Corpse and mauled me. XP

I'm using my full army of 13/11 Skellies, 6/4 Mages, and 16/14 Revives (before Lawbringer/after Lawbringer). I'm very picky about my revives, so sometimes I may end up not reviving anything on the way down, sometimes none at all, or sometimes, everything I kill in the Halls of Vaught. I'm anal about my revives, and only pick the ranged/ethereal/super-melee monsters to raise (i.e. Succubi/Ghosts/Minotaurs). :3
The way I work, I tend to let my full army run amok on the way down. Once I get to rounding the corner to Nilathak's room, I switch to Lawbringer (losing 2 of each summonable), and teleport around the bend with my tele ammy. This bunches up the skellies, mages, and the crapload of Succubi/Archers/Tomb Vipers (YES... I raise these *****es) to focus fire on the advancing Ice Spawn. Once an Ice Spawn drops, I pound it with a CE, and if that doesn't kill another, wait for another corpse, then pound that with another CE. Two CEs and the souls start floating up to heaven baby. Once Nilathak is all alone and all bodies have been sent to the skies above, I Decrep and tele on top of him (Not a good place to be with my army, and my Obedience wielding Might merc on top of you). XD
So far, it's pretty damn effective. You just got to make sure you pay attention to monsters that may die behind you. ^^;;

Teleing would make a big difference. I am not fussy about my revives, that would also smooth things out. I'll pay more attention to that. I have never noticed Nith CE anything but the Ice demons, to be honest I'm a little surprised he CEs other things. Of course if he did and I was dead I wouldn't notice. I think it is a cool plan, I'm going to try it some more, I have a tele circlet on a mule somewhere, i'll try switching to it.

The way I approached it was to ignite the entire area surrounding his little love-shack... and by having his little Ice Spawns on the edge of the screen, I'd not even be able to SEE Nihlathak.
Ostrich logic; if I can't see him, he can't see me! Since anything that dies is on the edge of my screen, it's definitely over 5 yards+ away from me, so no fear, right?
The idea with using 20 CE (hopefully higher with +skills) is to possibly kill Nihlathak when he's off-screen, since, you know, minions tend to wander towards threats and whatnot.

I know I am going to be safe, but...... that IDIOT always wants to wander into his CE range, and WHAM, dead merc.

All the smart mercs are safe in a Tavern somewhere, only the stupid ones would go on our quests. :)
