noob ? about patch

im still considering myself a noob and i got a ? about the current patch 1.11

as of now, im playing single player not online (the comp i play on doesnt have online now) with the original patch 1.07 (very embarassed to say that )

is it possible to download the patch onto the comp i use to play D2 and use it if i dont play online? or do i need to play online in order to use the patch i am missing out on a tone of stuff. would i need to restart all my characters or will they automatically upgrade to the 1.11 patch

You do not need to be online to play any specific patch. Here is a link to download all the Patches (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mdt0387p). You can jump straight to 1.11 or a different patch, if you would like. I do not believe you can go back in patches (i.e. 1.10 to 1.09) without reinstalling. All the patches are backwards compatible, so you can play your 1.07 characters in 1.11, but they will become 1.11 characters and no longer playable under 1.07.

There are a 3 things available on the realms that are not available in single player for 1.11:
DClone,
Ubers,
ladder-only runewords. (though, there is a runeword mod you can play that includes these)

On the plus side v1.10+ includes a lot of new runewords (I don't think there were even runes in v1.07), items and new set bonuses for v1.09 sets.
On the down side v1.10+ includes many changes to monsters and character skills that will probably make your existing characters unplayable beyond normal dificulty. Quite frankly you'd be better off starting them over.

Are you playing LOD or Classic? If classic, LOD is a HUGE improvement over classic and well worth the money.:thumbsup:

i have been playing LOD and yes there are runes, but you cant transmute them higher

Runes were introduced in out of the box LOD (1.07). The ability to transmute them to the next higher rune was added in 1.10.

I am in the same boat as you on this one. i also only play offline sp. damn good challange patch 1.10 in hell, but you should listen 2 the guys above they seem 2 know where there coming from!!
