A Blocking Problem

I started ladder recently and am leveling up a blizzard sorc. It now has come to the time that I must decide where I am placing all of my saved stat points. I have a few options: 1) Getting a Spirt Monarch which requres 156 strength and the rest into vitality no hope of going max block. (2) Getting a Storm Sheild which also requires 156 strength and instead going max block. (3) Getting a Whistan Gaurd and going max block this allows more points into vitality since whistans is higher blocking a lower strength and (4) Mosers with 2 P dimonds and full Vitality. This is not only a question of Vitality Vs. Block but which set up is best for an MF Blizzard sorc that will be doing mephisto and Andy, in the past I have normally gone with Mosers and that fairs alright but I want the best possible setup? Thanks for any insight in advance.

I haven't heard anyone doing max block with spirit - it just requires insane dexterity to attain, so you would put those points in vitality.

Stormshield is what I use as a meteorb (lvl 97 now) - it's a great blocking shield with that nice 35%DR.

Mosers and Whitstans aren't the best choices - the former is good for resists (which spirit and ss have) and whitstans doesn't give anything other than great blocking, so it's kind of a wasted item slot.

For mf'ing, you need to have at least 63% fcr, and 105% is really nice for teleporting. If you can't hit the 63fcr breakpoint without spirit, then you really need to use that. I use magefist, arachnid mesh and eschutas now to hit that breakpoint. To some degree it depends on your gear, and it also depends on your playing style. With ss, I can get swarmed by those dolls or flayers and 3/4 of them miss. With spirit, I do more damage and can tele faster, but if I get stuck in a pack it's ugly.

More like, if you can hit the next breakpoint with spirit, use it by all means. A blizz sorc's purpose is to tele fast and kill meph fast. If you can do your runs 10% faster, it doesn't matter that you die once every 50~100 more times.

Well it all depends.. If your playing hardcore then you should be using a wiz,tgods, and one of those three shields. Stormshield is good if you have it.. but dont achieve that much strength for it if you don't already have it.. you can always remake your sorc.
Mosers is good if u up it and double el it or 2xpdiamond. My friends over at the hc forum has an excellent orb sorc using whistans. He does just fine and infact id say his sorc is more impressive then most softcore sorcs i've seen.
