Stormeress (PvP)

Why this build?

I experienced by playing with my lightingsorc how great the Thunderstorm spell is. You only have to teleport and the spell aims itselfs and is doing good damage, what can my very handy with PvP. With my merc who has a Windforce i’m doing a lot of damage by only teleporting!
And remember this is my first build, so tips are welcome!

Skills

20 Thunderstorm
20 Lightning mastery
20 Telekenisis
20 Energy Shield
1 Teleport
1 Warmth (or more, its up to you, mana regeneration is very usefull in this build)
5 Prereqs (Charged Bolt, Lightning, ChainLighning, Static Field and Nova)

Yes I know, when you reached a certain level you can distribute extra points on the way you want. You can put them in one of the cold armours or something else, use your own creativity! Maybe it’s usefull you use some skills in the beginning for (chain) lightning for PvM.

Stats

- Strength Enough to wear your equipment, keep it as low as possible!
- Dexterity Nothing, because you teleport a lot, a high blockrate isn’t needed.
- Vitality Also nothing, we use a full Energy Shield which absorbs most of the damage.
- Energy Almost all points, you need a lot of mana!

Equipment

- Weapon:
Eschuta’s Temper (3 Skills socketed with lightning facet, it gives a boost to the lightningdamage). Other choise can be a Heart of the Oak with 40 to allresistance and 3 Skills.

- Weaponswitch:
Ofcourse the Call To Arms Runeword.

- Shield:
Lidless Wall (1 skill, 20fcr, increase mana 20% and can be socketed with a lighting facet), or the Spirit Runeword (2 Skills, Fcr, Extra mana, Resistance).

- Shieldswitch:
A shield with 1 or 2 skills. (Shields above or the cheapest choise Sigon’s Guard).

- Armour:
Enigma (2 Skills, Extra strength, Damage reducing), Chains Of Honor (2 Skills, Strenght, Damage reducing, Resistance), Ormus’ Robes (with 3 skills to Thunderstorm, extra lightning damage, 20Fcr, Regenerate mana, and can ce socketed with lightning facet) or just simple but effecte the Skin Of Vipermagi (1 skill, 30Fcr, Damage reducing, resistance and can be socketed with lighning facet). For this build where we using just 1 attack spell, the Ormus Robes with +3 to Thunderstorm do the trick i quess.

- Headgear:
Griffon’s Eye (1 skill, 25Fcr, extra lighting skill damage and reducing of enemies lightning resistance, and can be socketed with lighting facet!) or Harlequin Crest (2 skills, great mana/healt bonus and 10% damage reducing also socketed with lightning facet).

- Belt:
Arachnid Mesh.

- Gloves:
Frostburn / Magefists.

- Boots:
Silkweave (10% increasing mana).

- Amulet:
Any Amulet with needed +skills and fcr/mana/energy/damage reduction. Tal Rasha’s Adjudication (2 skills, extra mana/health) can be nice. Or Mara’s Kaleidoscope (2 Skills, 5atributes and nice resistance).

- Rings:
2 x Stone of Jordan, simple the best.

Mercanary

In this build the mercenary is very important, because it will do a lot of damage. Because in this build we teleports almost always, we use a bow merc, which can be gained at Act 1. A merc with a cold arrow is the best choise i quess because it freezes its target. Than use these items:

- Windforce Bow
- Tal Rasha’s Death Mask / Andariel’s Visage
- Fortitude Armor (The 300% enchanted damage of the Fortitude Armour is really great. This can lead to serious damage, up to 3500!).

Attacking

Use the Call To Arms, activate your Energy Shield and offcourse Thunderstorm (dont forget your mercenary) and just teleport! With your merc you can have a max damage easily with this build of 5000. Yes I know, just regelar Lightning has much more damage, but remember you don’t have to aim, just teleport nearby your enemy and he will be hit.

PS I hope this thread can be sticked.

thats terrible, easily absorbed, poor gear choices, and 20 es is very uneeded. thunderstorm has diminishing returns and more hten one point into it is a waste. your better off going with a pure light sorceress then this build. Expensive and defently not worth the time or money. Very low range with thunderstorm also. Pathetic thunderstorm damage. This build is so bad that one wisp and 20 stacked resists could completely null it.

Ok, I belive this build is not terrific and may even be not that bad. The "pathetic" thunderstorm damge will be something like 4500-5500.With a Infinity merc this build will become much better in my oppinion. constant teleporting will help the merc survive, so this conviction aura will be there for some time. stacking resistances won't be so easy then. You also need to remember to hit teleport FCR breakpoint. I think a magic orb with +3 lightning skills/+3 thunder storm/+ FCR might be better than eschutas if its spawnable. Then with ani, torch and 9 lightning skillers you could hit lvl 50 thunderstorm(with +1 skill helm)- dmg = 525-624 frequency 1.08. lvl 47 mastery would give you +602% dmg, so your total thunderstorm damage would be something like 3685 - 4380 not counting +lightning damage from equipment.
BTW, INEEDMENTALHELP, i think your response was kinda rude. I've personally never seen such build, but that doesn't mean it's pathetic. It doesn't even mean it's not viable.

Im going to attempt to avoid a flame war here but this is why this build will die fairly quickly to most other chars.

1. Easily absorbed 85 resists is pathetically easy to absorb even fohers with -175 to resistances on the enemy can be absorbed rather easily.
2. Very poor range which will make you useless vrs long range attacks such as bowazon and other builds.
3. Using mercs in any dueling league or anywhere else except for pubbys is considered bad mannered.
4. The skill points could easily be used better somwhere else, an example of this is nova and weild the infinity( i have seen this done)
5.Cold armors will boost your defense from 1k to 3k which wont save you from hardly anything.
5. Characers like wind druids and paladins and assasins can out damage you and wind druids can fully absorb your hits without taking much for damage.

Sorry to be a downer but pure thunderstorm wont work in anywhere that absorb is allowed. And if sorb isnt allowed then mercs arent allowed. Their are much better options out their imo.

ThnuderStrom is really pathertic. At most ppl will just place 1 point for the "stunning" and really nothing else. Even Paladin's FOH is much better off with the help of Conviction Aura.

It doesn't matter whether it is pvp or pvm. TS is just too pathetic. Let's hope Blizzard improve it significantly. Anyway both Nova and TS are weak skills. There aren't many great Sorc pvp charc save a few which is pure FO. pure Blizzard, pure Lightning/Chain Lightning and Fireball/Meteor.

i think you could invest in FO instead of the ES so you're not just a teleporting vegetable. Also, i don't think ur ES is high enough to compensate for not investing any points into vit.

Tempestress.
There!

I wish it would work. But it won't -_-
Too easy to absorb, slow firing time, little range...ugh

Way back in the original D2 days, Tempstress were one hit kills.
Dueling with TS was considered rude and pathetic.
Once the expansion came out, TS was severely nerfed.
Rightly so, IMO. It took the skill out of dueling.
