sorry if this has already been asked before, but i couldnt find it in the guide or in previous threads. but i was wondering how many stat points should i put into strength without any charms, or bonuses from items, etc. just like base strength if i'm going for max block. should i put around 120-130? or more or less. please help, i dont know what to do

Well i'm not sure, but this what i was told, " Sorcs don't take dex to block because they are just supposed to stay out of the line of fire and cast spells from a distance, and you need all your stat points for life and mana. "

It all depends on your (future) equipment. Equiping storm with base str would require some very str.-focussed gear. Not really effective as you could probably get way more powerful gear without sacrificing everything everything to reach that 156/133 str.

Put in the points you need.

But if you are going to go for blocking and take alot of dex then the minimum, unaltered strength rerquirement you will need depends on what gear you intend to use.

I read loads of stuff and tried both max block and not. Both have benefits but you play them different (i.e you dont run around as much with a max block sorcs cos your blocking drops to 1/3).

I think if your using a Strm Shld base of about 140 is about right cos you can make that difference in charms / +str gear.

If your not using anything that heavy loads of people say 85 enough in strength.

thanks for the help. but now i dont know whether stormshield is the best for mfing. i saw a spirit shield and see they arent too bad (+2 skills, resist, etc.) but not really any big mfing....is there a shield with good block, resist, mfing and +skills?

is there a shield with good block, resist, mfing and +skills? yes, there is. there's a new secret runeword called "you wish": zodzodzodzod in any 4 socket shield ^_-.

no, seriously there is no such shield.

rhyme rw isn't that bad (and it's cheap): 25 mf, 20 enhanced blocking, 40 fbr, 25 res all, cbf.
mosars is pretty good too: 57 block, 25 res all, 30 fbr and 2 open sockets that can be used for p.diamonds for res or ists for mf. you can also up the shield for 8% better blocking.

how much points you need into strength really depends on the items you plan to use when your character is finished. my dream setup includes coh, perfect sandstorm trek, perfect anni, perfect torch = 75 +strength. thus 81 base strength is just enough for spirit monarch and stormshield (without -req jewel). with 81 base you should be able to equip most other items too. however, these items obviously are pretty expensive, so you probably don't want plan them in. you have to make up your own mind which items to use and how realistic your chance is to get them.

mf on shields

Rhyme : 25% mf
Wealth : 20% mf
Milabregas Orb : 20% mf

The only way to beat these would be isted shields which I personally think are the biggest waste of ist runes.

Apart from these you won´t find too much mf on shields. No matter if you plan to go with Stormshield or Spirit, you will need 156 str with the bonus from your gear.
