Meteorb mf sorc

I just started over on Europe SCL after 2 years of absence from d2.
I thought id make a mf sorc to gather some gear for future projects.
After some thought i came up with a set for my sorc, its meant to be cheap and provide me with decent mf and also some degree of survivability.


Tarnhelm
skin of vipermagi
chance guards
Occulus
Rhyme shield
Goldwrap
Rare Boots
Prismatic amulet/ rare amulet
2 rare rings

This will give me an MF of about 210-240 (socketed with topazes) 390%extra gold, resists all 101, 60%fcr, 40%fbr, +5 to all skills.
I would also get resists, mana, life... from Rare boots and rare rings and possibly a rare amulet which are not covered in the stats i mention.

So, what you all think, is this a decent and cheap kit to get my hands on for starting up some mf:ing? All theese parts shouldnt be to hard to get my hands on correct?

What do you think this set would cost me? in runes? in gems?...

Maybe its all covered in drop from the hell difficulty hellforge quest if im lucky.

Alhough his is no he right forum for prizecheck, your posting implies both, prizes and strategy.

The gear you chose seems good.

Tarnhelm: 3 pgems if no too close to 50% mf ( will get 45 probably )
Skin of Vipermagi: 10 pgems for a low one
Chance Guards: low ones basically free, 3 pgems in he lower 30ies, perfect ones are expensive
Occulus: still in he runes section, hough not sure about prize, maybe Wizardspike: for 3 pgems would be a cheaper way
Rhyme: Well you now the runes for this :)
Goldwrap: Not more than 3 pgems/ sometimes free
Rare Boots: Find some boots with mf ( can be magic ) and don´t care about the rest
Prismatic Amu: 3 pgems / plain +2 sorc amu: 3 pgems / plain 3x% mf amu: 3 pgems / but a combination of these mods could become expensive
are Rings: Find mf rings ( can be magic ) or trade for not perfec nagelrins above 25% mf for 3 pgems

Guess with pul-um you could get a good starter set.

I just have to start hunting gems then, shouldnt take to many cowruns to get them, should be able to do nm cows alone pretty good. And i still have all the hellforge quests undone.. doing all of them will probably get me something.

Tonight ill start hunting for my mf:gear, will be soooo much fun!

Only problem I see with your setup is the 60% FCR... 63% is really a bare minimum in my opinion.

Try crafting some caster amulets to make up for the 3% FCR deficiency (Ral rune + perfect amethyst + magic amulet + magic jewel). You might get lucky and get skills + resists on top of the FCR.

Well, my setup includes 2 rare rings. They can have fcr as well, havent found any decent ones yet though. I have a prismatic amulet now but it could be changed for a good rare one as well or what you spoke of. But i really need the res for survivability..

Then I srongly suggest Wizzardspike instead of Occulus. Wizzy has 75% res all, 50% fcr and is dirt cheap.

That's rather nice. If you are lucky, you can get an occy with it, I guess.

This has been said before, but I'll add my vote too.... I would recommend going with a wizspike instead of an Occy. The resists and fcr make it a great choice. Plus I've never liked the random teleport.

Having such high fcr and resists allow you to reorder some gear or even hit another fcr breakpoint. You do lose skills, but a sorc doing boss runs kills quick enough that even a 20% drop in damage isn't too tragic. Just my $0.02.

So ill change the occy for a spike.. that will give me:
+ 55% more resist all
+ 20% more fcr
+ 15% max mana
+ 2mana/level (thats 130 mana for me rigt now..)
+ 15% regen mana


- 20 vitality
- 20 energy
- 3 skill
- 50% mf

then ill drop to say 150%mf, but ill increase speed due to more mana and better survivability. the loss in damage due to skills is partly covered by castrate i guess.

Phat Trumpet has a good point as well. Crafting with the caster receipt will always give you a least 5% fcr and you are only lacking 3%.
