Making a starter character using npc buyable gear with magic finding stats.
Long time ago, seems to me that the MF stat only worked for the player landing the last blow and not at all if your minions did the killing. Anyone able to confirm or clear up any info on this for me?

are you talking necro specific?
If your merc gets the last hit your MF and any on him will factor in, if you do only yours will.
Minions such as Valk/Shadow?Revives I believe have your mf factor though I'm less than positive about this.
Shopping for stuff with the MF mod isn't the best idea, go for safety and when you get to say Normal a5 you can start gambling gloves/boots/belts and pick up some nice rares, r/w/res/mf boots etc.
Any gems you find should be held onto, There's nothing quite as fun as a 3 PTopaz mask when your ghetto, unless it's the 3 PSapphire mask you use to teleport.

If MF gear on your character didn't work when minions got the kill, Summoners and Trappers in LoD would be pretty useless.

I -assume- he's talking about either a staff with Teleport charges (Naj's comes to mind) or an Amulet.
Anyone who could afford the Enigma runeword would hardly be ghetto enough to use a 3 PSapph helm.

I think all he meant by the 3 psaph helm was that it provides a lot of mana, (118?) and is therefore pretty darn useful for a low-mid level, not well equipped sorceress, or whoever else will be using multiple teleports (conceviable on someone with a staff, or at level 48, tele amulets).
Please remember that Kraayt plays classic... so no telly charges for him.

Jason, you noob, the reason you couldn't tele anymore wasn't because you were out of mana, it was because you were out of charges. :)
And I was actually talking about having a 3 PSapp mask on for teleport as a sorc, I saw it was an MFing thread and went on auto-pilot *sheepish grin*
