Hello,

I'm an old-time Diablo II player, mainly single player and with friends in TCP games. I have a fire/ice sorc who I played through for a while, but recently, acquired a hankering to try out the lightning tree.

Now, I subscribe to the theory that you need dual skill trees to not be too narrowly or broadly focused (maybe I'll try an archmage, but not today). The question is, which skill tree (fire or ice) pairs best with lightning?

Thoughts? Recommendations for which skills pair well together and should be focused on would also be appreciated (i.e. If I use Chain Lightning, should I also use blizzard? If I use Thunderstorm, should I use hydras, firewall, or fireball?)

I hear Frozen Orb goes well with a lightning build since FO doesn't need heavy investment in order to become relatively effective.

I went with a pure lightning sorc and i am quite happy with it to say the least. When i didnt have infinity, my merc would handle the immunes pretty easy. I had to do some evasive maneuvers (teleing) and stuff like that. A wand with lower res charges is also pretty easy to shop for. It can break the immunities on a few monsters, but it is best used against act bosses. And now that i have infinity, she totally owns everything... Just thought you should know that a single three sorc can do pretty much; Pit runs, countess, diablo, baal and meph, all of these pretty easy (not pwning) without infinity.

if you can make a good merc i think it's better to choise one element. Through all synergies you get max damage (pvp). But well if you really want to have 2 elements, i also say go for frozen orb!

yea the fo/cl sorc is one of the better dual element sorcs to come across, mines handles things easily with a infinity merc.
