venom + other poison source questions

i checked the faq but couldnt find anything that explains how venom works in conjunction with other poison sources. can i extend duration or add to the damage with poison charms? i really have no idea how it interacts with other poison sources.

If I remember correctly, Venom causes the other sources of poison to have their durations reduced to .4 seconds (i.e., 100 damage over 4 secs becomes 10 damage over .4 - and thats all the damage you get from it)... so additional sources are useless.

remember that at 20 venom damage is only 425-445 but if you add some anthrax charms (+50 poison) you could make 460 to 475 damage so you might want to reconsider saving the anthrax small charms

Not quite. Add a +50 psn small sc, and it's over 5 seconds or so? Cut the damage down to over .4 seconds and you're getting a whopping 3.3 damage to your venom... It's much better to add +shadow skill charms, they will strengthen your venom far more than any amount of poison charms.

I see what you mean thanks for the information... I guess Ill toss out those anthrax charms to my barb :thumbsup:

how effective is Venom? lvl 20 is 445 dam for 0.4 seconds? that doesnt sound that great. does it stack for every hit? like kicks?

Level 20 venom isn't very good. Level 40 venom with some +% poison gear is incredible; especially against someone not prepared to deal with it.

Level 40 is 1075-1095. The Poison Mastery is applied twice, so even using lowly trangs gloves you get a 56% increase (1.25*1.25). If this is in Hell, and your opponent has no PLR gear, then you can effectively double the damage.

You will rarely hit more than once a kicking round (no, it doesn't stack, either) giving you the full damage almost every hit. Overlap does slightly more, but not double.

venom is not considerd bm
poison dmg over 6 seconds in some sort of duells is considerd bm (Depending on the amount of poison you use) (if ya use 37* 290 or w/e you will be considerd bm) assa venom will never be considerd bm as it has so short duration....

Poison generally is not "bm" either. The problems people had with poison go back to 1.09 and before, when poison was BUGGED and so many people had insane duped psn charms. It is no longer bugged and its damage is in-line or actually much less than other available attacks. Poison has not been even remotely "bm" since 1.10 came out. It is a non-issue. I say again, TODAY, anyone who claims poison is "bm" is inexperienced and hasn't put it in perspective with all of the other damage sources out there.
