1. Any way to disable the alt+tab combo? It's almost killed me a couple times.. I always use tab to switch map on/off, and alt to see items on the ground, I've used those keys for those purposes for as long as I've played, switching their functions would screw me up... However, I think its this new keyboard, or I had it disabled on the other computer or something, but I hit them a LOT at the same time now, causing it to minimize.

2. Which cold shield should I go with on my orb/tk mf sorceress?

Thanks.

I had that exact alt-tab problem when I first stared playing this game, and occasionly still have it for a day or 2 when ever I return after quitting for a few months.

There is an easy, and quick fix for it though! Your first death to it... there, problem solved! Once you lose a character to it, there is no way your brain will allow you to press those 2 keys at the same time. I don't care what anyone says! Put a gun to my head and tell me to press them together when Diablo 2 is running, and I wont be able to, as if there was a shield protecting them, a cold shield mayhaps? Who knows!

Sadly, I don't know much about sorcs, so I can't help you with your second question.

Good Luck!

1) I don't know a specific way to do it, however using the glide wrapper someone pointed to a while ago it seems to be disabled (for me at least). I recommend using the glide wrapper anyways as glide owns d3d and direct draw ^^

2) The first one to save skill points, or, to save even more skill points, if you're using a memory staff for ES try to get a staff that has + to any one of them and just use that one. I think it's the second one up that gives the most def/lvl, but the boost isn't high enough for me to spend a 2nd skill point to get it.

The first one actually freezes them when they hit you, the others just "cold" them, first one>all :D

hrm, the armor question was discussed in the "other" forum a while ago...

basically:
(1) shiver gives more def per lvl
(2) shiver takes 3 more skill points to get
(3) shiver slows the target when it attempts to hit u, while frozen armor only freezes when the target actually hits u

The last one (forgot the name already, havent played in a while) freezes them half way hitting you ;) even better. Though, I've found out it bugging sometimes and not freezing anything... Perhaps it does some kind of calculations as well before working?

1) Shiver armor I believe, it's the second one on the tree. Same defense bonus as chilling, but you won't need to put the final point in. Also, no one cares about freezing ranged monsters, the defense is what you're after.

2) I too know your misery with the alt-tab, I don't know how, but I've become completely immune to hitting those two buttons while on d2. Instead of using them when I want to see the desktop, I hit the windows button *insert rofl here*. I suppose it also saves a keystroke, but yeah, no need for alt-tab in d2!
