Hello.

Ok, so I now own 2 copies of Diablo 2, and was thinking how handy it would be to bo, or enchant myself, or just pass along some waypoints to myself. I of course only have 1 computer though. I've heard of people running more then 1 copy of Diablo 2 on their computers in the past. Is this still possible? Is it allowed by battle.net? How do I go about doing it?

I've tried searching about it on this forum, and googleing it. It turns out its quite difficult to word that and actually get usefull results.

Thanks all!

Very simle.

Try to Google those keywords: "d2gfx.dll 1.11", the first link:
http://www.ingame.de/filebase/index.php?action=file&fid=2868&cid=325

Download it :)

I have 2 copies of D2:LOD too, so how I do:
1) Install 1 new copy of D2 and D2:LOD (in folder D:\Games\D2_1)
2) Login into Battlenet, get patch 1.11
3) Rename D:\Games\D2_1 folder to some D2_1zzz -> then, when you will insert Cd1 from D2 installation, it will allow to install 2nd time, but now -> install in folder D:\Games\D2_2
4) get patch 1.11 applied to this installation
5) rename back D2_1zzz to D2_1

THEN

make backup-copy of original d2gfx.dll; replace in both folders original file with downloaded one.

Make 2 shortcuts to D2_1 and D2_2 folders file game.exe

And - enjoy palying 2 copies of D2 at the same time(yeah, You should have good POC, at least 512MB of RAM I think :)

I'm no computer wiz, so that was kind of confusing to me (it looks very similar to what I did however). Here's how I did it, not to step on Bestiya's toes:

*Note that you should be running WindowsXP with Fast User Switching enabled*

1. Uninstall all copies of D2.
2. Install D2 to the default folder on one of the two users you'll be switching between using one of your two CD keys.
3. After you're done installing, rename the default folder to something simple (like just add "-2" to the end of it). If you use a desktop shortcut you'll also need to right click on this, properties, and change the path to the renamed folder.
4. Switch to other user and install D2 to the default folder using your other CD key.

If your computer is fast enough you should have no trouble at all, but I found that my box is so old and busted I can hardly switch back and forth without one of my chars losing connection.

Good luck.

Thats _exactly_ what I was looking for! thanks guys!

Its too bad though, that my computer only has 256 mb's of ram, and this will most likely be impossible. And my wallet tells me that I can't have more ram at the present time, but thats ok! I'm planning on still playing in 5 years from now, and by then I'm sure I will have a newer computer!

Thanks for the info though guys. I'll give it a try anyway, and see how quickly it crushes my computer!

oh geez, i have a pretty decent computer and its still a tremendous mess. I ran two copies before 1.11, and when 1.11 came out it screwed absolutely everything up, needed two folders, 2 different pathways etc. ugh it's just such a mess right now. Before I could run both my keys without a cd. Now I need my cd in my drive but i can still run both keys somehow....i'm so confused, at least it works :)
