View Full Version : Stupid Trang Set

Hey all-
I just complete my Trang set, and suddenly realized that there is a HUGE casting rate decrease...so slow that it's not even worth using the full set. ANyways, a buddy told me that there is a bug with that...but is there a way to increase the cast rate from that hidious rate? or is it stuck that way?
Any word from Blizzard if they plan on fixing it?
thanks all.
sorry to say this but actually the full set causes the cast rate to be 0 and unfortunately it cant be risen again, unless you remove a part from the set :(

What a waste of a perfectly good set...necro's are usless if they can't fling bonespirits/spears into the hordes of battle, and then blow up all the bodies like a raving lunatic...which would look so cool as the Vampire the set turns me into...
Is the set designed that way? or is it a bug? Either Way, Blizzard should fix it

Trang may not be good for a bone necro but it is decent for a summoner. The fire spells can prove to be fairly useful. I think the fire mastery helps corpse explosion too...

The casting rate does not drop to 0 IIRC, the Trang's set just makes it so you use a different set of FCR break points to increase your cast rates. Although they are abhorridly large considering your space... ><

I have a old 1.08 version of this set (all parts found in version or earlier) - the mods are diffrent on the items but you get the new full set bonuses just not the new bonus for partal etc but it seems to use the same cast rate if I remove a piece as with the full set. Just a FYI.

If your necro relies on FCR to do his damage (ie. bone necro), ditch the Trang's set in favor of uniques. Trang's is more for summoners and poisonmancers who don't need a lot of FCR.

Trangs is a great set, but it's like many other items: it's not the generic one-size-fits-all solution. Just like a Javazon won't use Windforce, Trangs isn't meant for Bonemancers.
Cast rate isn't the only undocumented speed change when wearing trangs: you get incredible movement speed, and your "barrel kicking" speed is penalized.

You are correct. As can be found in The Mouldy Tome: Necromancer Guides, Tips and Tests (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=366742) the Vampire form uses the following bp's:
Vampire form FCR breakpoints
FCR frames
0 23
6 22
11 21
18 20
24 19
35 18
48 17
65 16
86 15
120 14
180 13

Trang is a package deal for poison/summon hybrid necros, unless you want to go for the very espensive uniques/runewords. This set is not for bone necros, though.
Most of the necro equipment seems to have tough trade offs
Trang - slow cast rate - but decent defense, res, run/walk speed, and added fire attacks
Marrowwalks - good mastery bonus - but high str requirement
Arm of king Leoric - outstanding summoner bonus - chance to cast bone prison that can be very dangerous
As with most items in this game - the good is balanced with the not so good -- thats what is so addicting about this game - constantly tweaking equipment to use or personal preferance.

Yea...this is my first Necromancer...he's level 85 now, so I can't really change direction...and he's a hybrid bonemancer/summoner. But I wasted a lot of skill points in the poison skills and a few curses before I decided where to go with him. I've been impressed with the set so far, except for the cast rate...
I have decided to start searching around for new equip. though. Unless of course blizz changes the cast rate break down...which means i'll should just work on getting new equipment. ;-)
All they need to do is put an option to shift into vampire & unshift to necromancer with the set, and i'd be so very happy.
In my opinion, this set was {in .09}, the best looking set when it came to useful modes. No necros' running around in white pants and gray color'ed runeword junk could compare to the groovy look of the necromancer in trangs set {as one does in a channel}.
It just blows that they wont let you unshift from vampire, because the set looks great on the necro on all angles, ever walk around in a dark +hp or fhr chaos armor? The little mage skirt & boots and back spin thing look bloody awsome with the color pointing it out more.
Even worse for a necro who uses it to duel {my .09 spirit/nova necro used trang set on all 4 versions of him}, the +fhr seems wasted as I think it also uses the vampire hit recovery table. Its so rare for a good set to come with hit recovery :(.
As stats go, its still a great set, and one of the best three in the game {the other two being desciples {#1}, and sazabie {#3}....have you actually seen the modes on these two compared to price!?}
Also about this hole lost-of-cast-rate-makes-it-suck thing; remember that the set, while shifted into a vampire, lets you run at mach-3, while in walk mode {i.e. full blocking & deffense}. And the groovy fire skills I guess are ok...

And the groovy fire skills I guess are ok...Firewalling psn immunes are fun. They actually do decent damage if you cast LR first.
If you use the str bug to wear the trang armor, do you not change to a vampire?
The way ik barbs don't seem to be wearing anything but they glow anyway?
That could be a solution couldn't it?

You can wear full trangs without turning into the vampire by going through a WP....

I like useing 2 of the set shields and hitting weapon switch for the ring of flame at your feet. IMHO if useing a hexfire and Atmas ammy (+3 and +2 fire skills) the FW and Meteor damage don't seem bad, adds fire to a summon/poison build quite nicely, not to mention what a bonus it is for the CE and FG skills. The tendency to outwalk your summons and delay on casting Bone sucks though.
BTW as far as mercs go Harmony is nice on a low non zon bow for a act 1 merc if your a summon necro. Throw on a dream helm and it really helps summons.

Acctually, the more I play with this set, the more I'm liking it. I don't really ever use Vampire form except when I'm doing run to the Pits or Countes...then nothing can catch me. ONce I get where I'm going I switch back though. And I just made a White wand...so that helps me out quite nicely. But I do wish I could choose to not be in Vampire mode, since the full set does look very cool when equiped.
Ermmm..I've posted about how to get out of Vampire form for abit using WPs....
But somehow, its too troublesome & the time too random/unstable...
http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=395957
if you find how to make it permanent, then pls let me know

I think they fixed that too...I tried the WP thing, and I stayed in human form while in town, but as soon as I walked into the field, I went back into Vampy mode. I tried this several times in several diff acts...it's too bad...
I'll just work on finding enough equip to increase FCR so my Vamp can go a lil faster.
