I am just wondering if holy sheld gives some sort of passive effect and is that why people recommend it? Also I am wondering about players saying their poor and things being expensive is there somewhere to trade? I'd find this really useful thanks.

On this forum, you can find the following trade forums, depending on which realm you play on.

Holy shield is a great skill, since it adds to your total defense. Higher defense means lower chance to get hit, which means that you in general live longer. :)
It also increases the chance to block, which saves you from being hit too.
Great skill.

HS also increases smite damage. Very useful if you want to smite particular targets.

Generally, paladins will want to max Holy Shield. After maxing out their core skills first of course.

HS is definatly a very usefull skill as it increases overal def and increases smite dmg...

the main reason why any paladin wants to max this skill is that i packs loads of defence (lvl 29 hs on my smiter makes my defence 10+k) and it increases chance to block (less dex required for max block and more for vita  )

At high levels it last for 10 minutes++, making it almost a passive skill anyway.
