questions about zmiters

I see zmiters mentioned as uber killers...but not as pvp...I was thinking a zmiter might make a great pvp char.

My intended setup is
guilliumes
highlords/ravens (angelics for melee only duels)
fort armour (maybe duress until I can afford fort)
dunno what gloves...advice needed
have 45 base resist spirit...but aiming at good hoz (or should I consider another shield?stormshield?)
verdungo
gores (though may do ik boots and gloves since I have them now)

and weapon I was thinking fleshripper, do the mods work with smite? I would eventually get a grief.

I have never built a zmiter and could not find a guide to a pvp zmiter (maybe cuz they not for pvp?)

so any input would be much appreciated.

I recently took my uberkiller into a dueling game. His equipment is as follows:

32%/+397 Grief PB
186% Umed Upped HoZ
13xx def Archon Duress
Umed Guill's Face
37/15 Verdungos
14/9 Draculs
Goreriders
Ravenfrost
Rare prismatic paladin amulet
rare ring with leech/resists/dex

Skills are as follows, at level 82:

20 Zeal, 20 Fanat, 20 Sacrifice, 20 Holy Shield, 1 Smite, 7-8ish in Defiance

I've got about 14k defense, and 1500ish hp.

I've never dueled with this character before yesterday, and I never planned to... but he pretty much owned any melee character I faced, and had a good chance against casters.

For melees, I would just smite them. Even with level 1 smite, most non-barb characters died in 1-2 smites. Barbs took maybe 3 or 4. Against casters, I would charge at them. My level 1 charge usually killed them in 1 hit, but if not, I would immediately smite them, and that always took care of them.

As for the problems I had... I couldn't really do much about a trapper assassin I faced. Without absorb, her traps killed in in 2 or 3 hits, so I could never get close to her. The only other character I had problems with was a bone necro that had enigma and spammed bone spirits. We were about 50% against eachother, it all depended on if I could run around his spirits and get a charge in.

A zmiter is inferior to any dedicated smiter (20 smite,20 holy shield,20 fanaticism.20 defiance) with similar gear. And a lvl 1 smite zmiter is just a zealot :) . I have been constantly defeating non grief smiters with my grief zealot's 1 pt smite in pubbies if that says anything btw.

thanx for the responses guys, I think I will do the tried and true zealot with 1 point in smite. I just wanted to make sure I had a char that could both deal with ubers and duel...So I guess the question is...can a 1 point in smite zealot deal with uber tristam?

1pt smite +grief+maxed holy shield+maxed fanaticism (every fanatic zealot should have the last two)= solo the ubers in less than 3 minutes. Just stack as many lightning/cold/fire resists as you can. Without grief it is the same but it takes a bit longer, say an extra 2 minutes.
