Uber setup with...merc?

So I was just about to make a smiter/zealot or a pure smiter and was thinking that if a defiance merc can help with sub-ubers to get the organs(not uber trist)?

Merc stuff:
eth Doom thresher
Eth duress
Eth Crown of thieves

Iron Maiden by oblivions in furnace of pain will kill the merc in no time.
You need no merc to kill the gigantic shrimp also known as Duriel in no time.

YOUR res needs to be MUCH higher than that, if your going up against ubers alot. Mephs conviction will reduce those numbers to -50's or lower. Your merc won't last more than a few seconds, especially since he doesn't have any life leech. Equip him with um'ed 2xupped bone flesh or upped skin of flayed with tals mask or some type of massive life leech head gear and he'll do alot better.

His post is about facing the sub ubers (or generals according to the arreat summit). But true,stacking resists in a merc is a pain.

There's nothing wrong with your merc setup, but one thing is missing - Cannot be Frozen. You would have to invest in a cham rune and place it CoT if you choose to go this way.

Personally, I would change duress to eth shaft (for 30% dam red) or eth Guard ang (for 90% all res) as you deliver the bulk of the Crushing blow damage - not your merc...

I agree with guys here who advise you not to worry about merc when doing sub-ubers and specially ubers. Even a lvl 90+ merc will die quickly when exposed to Lilth's poison or when swarmed with Izuel's minions.

For doing sub-ubers (and later Ubers) solo you need couple of things on your main character: High Crushing Blow, high Dam red, max res, max leech, life tap and preferably CTA & Salvation aura (spec for uber meph to counter his conv aura)

If it is Iron Maiden minions around,...then maybe a normal white polearm with a nef rune in it for knock back and then give him eth shaft (Umed) and socket crown thieves with Pruby or all resist jewel right?
I mean i have life tap ready so he can leach all he wants right? or does it require for merc to have high damage in order to leech with lifetap?

hmm....maybe i should just go with merc when facing duriel...

mercs ll depenends on his dmg so the more dmg he does, the more life he'll leech.
if u dont like ur merc dying to im and such, go for a a1 merc with ice bow or faith with duress/fort, etc.
